2.9 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
I expect better from them. The aroma is the best part of the beer with blueberry notes. The body is a bit weak and the blueberry flavor is not mellowed into the beer but tastes like a foreign additive.

2.9 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 9/20
UPDATED: SEP 2, 2013 12oz bottle from 2013 summer pack. Poured into lager glass, hazy amber-golden color with white head. Aroma of blueberries, bread and a note of citrus hops (already better then I thought!). Taste is some tart blueberries, bready pale malt and a light hop finish. Light body, moderate carbonation, crisp with a decent "blueberry pancake" finish. Pretty good fruity light drinking, not ashamed this is my 400th beer review :D

Better. It was sweeet and smooth. Quite fruity and easy to drink. Not tiring and not so special but interesting though.

Boittle poured a cloudy gold with a small lingering white head. Aromas of blueberry, bread dough and light citrus. Palate was light bodied and crisp. Flavors of blueberry, shortcake and light citrus with a crisp lingering blueberry finish.

2.9 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Sweet, acidic, frooty NeHi aroma. Moderately foggy light gold; US longneck, Iím beginning to not like the complicated Sam labeling. Well bittered, strongly fruity, lightly sweet but on the dry side, pastry malting. I have a feeling that the froot would become clingy after two. All the berry and sweetness fades out quickly in the end, and youíre left with a long dry bitterness. Missing some of the complexity that I would have liked, but not bad. Walmart, part of the 2013 Beers of Summer mixpack.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
12 ounce bottle from the Summer sampler. Pours a hazy orange color with a large pillowy white head. Good head retention. Aroma of pale malts and blueberries typical of this style, but the berries do not seem artificial like so many of these do. The taste is pale malts, lightly tart berries and a faint vegetal note. Medium bodied.

3.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
I poured a 12oz bottle into the official Samuel Adams Boston Lager glass. It had a best before September 2013 notch on the label.
Appearance: White gold hue, slightly hazy but mostly clear. Forms a large, white frothy head which actually leaves an amazing amount of lace for a lager and never evaporates.
Smell: Reminds me of blueberry flavored gum or other candy. A generic lager core aroma as well.
Taste: Samuel Adams Blueberry Hill Lager is one of those beers where the first few swigs are full of the advertised taste. Itís blueberry alright, itís pretty sweet but not overtly sugary or syrupy, etc. Though the brewerís website says itís beer "aged on blueberries" rather than brewed with some kind of extract of flavoring added. It does tastes a tad fake to me. But itís a moot point since it fades quickly and second half of the glass tastes like standard pale lager. Clean, crisp, mild, adjunct-free lager - in other words, a lager thatís not very exciting despite the labelís claim of citrus from the hops (I really donít detect them).
I also get a slight sourness or sharpness on the finish as the beer warms up. Had the palette been a little more complex, or had the initial blueberry taste endured I think this couldíve been a pretty interesting, solid beer. While there are some things to enjoy here, mostly itís only okay.
Drinkability: Since this is a pale lager at the core itís no surprise it drinks like one. A fairly thin, crisp mouthfeel thatís actually kind of refreshing while in the mouth. A clean aftertaste and smooth delivery make Samuel Adams Blueberry Hill Lager highly quaffable (I actually couldnít believe how fast I sucked this down). At 5.5% ABV itís a bit stronger than it needs to be, but since only two come in a 12-pack thatís all you need anyway.

3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bottle @ home. Honestly, Iíve always been a bit of a sucker for blueberry beers, not just sours. Pours a hazy, a bit cloudy yellow orange appearance with a fluffy, a bit yellowish, cream colored head. Aroma is potent and full of blueberry pancakes along with some berry tartness. Smells refreshing and enticing so far. Starts out with some tart blueberry, fruity notes and finishes with a bit more bready, floral bitterness. Lots of blueberries that continue to linger after the finish. Nothing mind blowing but I could pound a bunch of these.
