beaconstreet (810), Washington DC, USA Aug 17, 2004 Wow, I was surprised to see this is brewed by the same people that make Sam Adams. Nothing spectacular, certainly no spices or flavors that jump out at you. Kind of sour tasting, and even if this was the bottom of the keg it tastes like the kind of beer that could be borderline sour anyway. Light amber color, but light as in thin-looking. Not horrible; I had two pints; but not great either. Maybe this is the residue-stuff that comes out of the Sam Adams tanks when they wash them out? Earlier Rating: 4/2/2004 Total Score: 2.6 Nice, heavy brown beer. You see yourself drinking this at a tavern on an unfinished wood bar. Tastes slide down the tounge as it goes down. Has the same bittery settle on the stomach as other Sam Adams. Good, heavy beer, ugly residue in glass.
GirlyBeer (178), Biddeford, Maine, USA Aug 19, 2008 Pours a clear orangey color with a thick cream colored head. Aggressive hoppy aroma that can be smelled from over a foot away! Upon closer inspection, you can smell some malt and graininess as well. Roasty flavor, not unlike their Oktoberfest, but lighter on the tongue. Metallic hops and fruit in the after taste. Smooth drinking. EnnuiDivine (10), New Jersey, USA Aug 18, 2008 Not quite as common as the Boston Lager, this beer possesses everything good and memorable about medium-bodied American ales. Good body, pleasant hop flavor and smooth to the last drop. BenDover (93), Ohio, USA Aug 18, 2008 A middle-of-the-road ale. Nothing to write home about. A bit weak on taste, fruity and malty, would be good if it was bolder. Not bad, though. HyreOne (4), York, South Carolina, USA does not count Aug 16, 2008 Light brown color with a nice head. Floral, malty, maybe a little alcohol smell. Malty with a some hop flavor, a little alcohol, and a little bitter finish. Slight sticky sweet aftertaste. Somewhere between a light and medium body. Pretty well balance. I like this beer. dornoy (619), Lyngby, Denmark Aug 16, 2008 Thick off-white head on an reddis amber body. Fruity, a bit sweet, hints of caramel, well balanced, a pleasure to drink at any time.
