COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Samuel Adams® Boston Ale was first brewed to celebrate the opening of our Boston Brewery. Like Samuel Adams Boston Lager®, it was an old family recipe that was rescued by Jim Koch from his father’s attic. Samuel Adams® Boston Ale, a Stock Ale, has a complex, caramel malt character balanced with distinct spicy and herbal hop notes. Our proprietary ale yeast imparts a variety of fruit and ester notes in both the nose and flavor which are indicative of the style. Stock Ale, one of the few classic beer styles to have originated in the United States, has a strong New England heritage. The style draws its name from the cool "stock cellars" in which it was aged. This technique imparted a smoothness and body which became the hallmark of this style. Keeping with the Stock Ale style, Samuel Adams® Boston Ale is fermented at cooler almost lager like temperatures and conditioned much longer than most ales. It also is Krausened and dry hopped.

A refreshing, nicely bitter ale with plenty of bite. The appearance was great, as a nice frothy head developed on top of a sweet looking amber. I was very pleased by the cool, refreshing flavor this ale had, and I will be keeping this one on hand at all times. An excellent beer.

Clear orange golden body with a fingerthick cappuccino colored head. Caramel, boiled leaves and wood on the nose. Sweet with an acetonic, wet cardboard edge that lasts and somehow represents a kind of bitterness. Medium bodied.

Nice ambergolden body with a white head. A good aroma of flower and fruit. Taste of sweet caramel, rye and citrus. A wellbalanced ale.

Reviewed from notes. The appearance had a clear copper/amber body that leaves a one finger white foamy head that lasts for about a good two minutes. Some spotty lacing speckles the sides of the glass and the body is too hazy for any carbonation to be seen rising. The smell had some earthy/herbal sweetness combined with some really light hops. The taste had a bready maltiness to the earthy/herbal sweetness. The palate was about a medium to heavy with a slight sharpness on the tongue, sessionable. Overall, this isn’t bad. However, I think I would only have this again on tap.

On draft at the Samuel Adams Brew Club in Newark Airport and served in the authentic Sam Adams imperial pint glass. I’ve had this many times over the years. My favorite pick of all the brewer offerings during the Boston Beer Company tour back in the 1990s.

Flaska på Nalen. Svårt att se någon färg då den dricks ut flaska. Malt och karamelldofter. Rund och lite bränd i smaken. Lagom mkt beska dröjer sig kvar. Rätt trist överlag.

Bottle from wegmans. Pours clear copper with a medium sized white head. The aroma is fairly malty. Some caramel, some toffee, some light nuts. The taste is fairly bland. A bit sweet, since caramel. Not a great one.

Bottle. Brown hazy, off white head. Aroma of caramel, spice, and bready grains. The taste follows the aroma with more caramel sweetness, and some hoppy bitter notes. Sweet, semi-rich palate. Very nice ale. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Hoppy clove/grassy notes. Taste is bitter at start which is matched with sweet maltiness. Finishes with a tangy bitterness and some sweetness. Appearance is a gold/amber body with creamy head with good retention

Bottle. Pours a clear amber body with a one finger frothy off-white head. The nose is pretty typical for the style, some lightly toasty malt, a hint of caramel, some minimal floral hops. The flavor leans a bit toward the sweeter side with a little caramel and toasty malt. Not much in the way of hops here, but there’s a slight hint on the finish. Light bodied with soft fizzy carbonation. Pretty basic Amber, but better than a lot of craft beer efforts I’ve had.
