COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Samuel Adams® Boston Ale was first brewed to celebrate the opening of our Boston Brewery. Like Samuel Adams Boston Lager®, it was an old family recipe that was rescued by Jim Koch from his father’s attic. Samuel Adams® Boston Ale, a Stock Ale, has a complex, caramel malt character balanced with distinct spicy and herbal hop notes. Our proprietary ale yeast imparts a variety of fruit and ester notes in both the nose and flavor which are indicative of the style. Stock Ale, one of the few classic beer styles to have originated in the United States, has a strong New England heritage. The style draws its name from the cool "stock cellars" in which it was aged. This technique imparted a smoothness and body which became the hallmark of this style. Keeping with the Stock Ale style, Samuel Adams® Boston Ale is fermented at cooler almost lager like temperatures and conditioned much longer than most ales. It also is Krausened and dry hopped.

Bottle poured into tumbler. Appearance is a clear copper with a minimal off-white head. Aroma is a lot of malt with a little caramel and sweet fruit. Taste is similar, but it’s a tad yeasty rather than fruity. Good feel. Overall, it’s not great, but not bad either.

Caramelly sweet malty taste with some fruity notes. Taste is caramel malts with syrupy notes, not that sweet though, also coupled with a decent bitterness. Okay beer. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Wischylini (123) - Grimstad, NORWAY - JUL 2, 2014
Pours a clear amber, with a decent head that quickly collapses. The aromas are butterscotch, bread, malt, and some fruits. The taste is quite sweet, and low on the bittering hops, which makes for a beer that’s easy to drink. The aftertaste is fairly long. The mouthfeel is thin and the beer is moderately carbonated.

Flaska från systembolaget. Härlig, fruktig ale. Inte jättespännande men absolut trevlig och lättdrucken. God!

12 ounce bottle into signature pint glass, best before 7/2014. Pours slightly hazy bright orange copper color with a 2 finger dense and fluffy off white head with great retention, that reduces to a nice cap that lasts. Spotty soapy lacing clings down the glass, with a good amount of streaming carbonation retaining the head. Aromas of caramel, toast, toffee, biscuit, light nuttiness, golden raisin, pear, apple, herbal, floral, and yeast/toasted earthiness. Nice and pleasant aromas with well balanced dark/bready malt, earthy hops, and yeast ester notes; with solid strength. Taste of caramel, toast, toffee, biscuit, light nuttiness, golden raisin, pear, apple, herbal, floral, grass, and yeast/toasted earthiness. Light earthy herbal bitterness on the finish; with lingering notes of caramel, toast, toffee, biscuit, golden raisin, pear, apple, herbal, floral, grass, and yeast earthiness. Nice balance and complexity of dark/bready malt, earthy hops, and yeast ester flavors; with a good malt/bitterness balance and zero cloying flavors after the finish. Medium carbonation and body; with a smooth, crisp, and lightly bready mouthfeel that is nice. Alcohol is well hidden with minimal warming present after the finish. Overall this is a nice English pale ale. Well balanced dark/bready malt, earthy hops, and yeast ester flavors; and very smooth and crisp to drink. A nicely enjoyable offering.
