COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Samuel Adams® Boston Ale was first brewed to celebrate the opening of our Boston Brewery. Like Samuel Adams Boston Lager®, it was an old family recipe that was rescued by Jim Koch from his father’s attic. Samuel Adams® Boston Ale, a Stock Ale, has a complex, caramel malt character balanced with distinct spicy and herbal hop notes. Our proprietary ale yeast imparts a variety of fruit and ester notes in both the nose and flavor which are indicative of the style. Stock Ale, one of the few classic beer styles to have originated in the United States, has a strong New England heritage. The style draws its name from the cool "stock cellars" in which it was aged. This technique imparted a smoothness and body which became the hallmark of this style. Keeping with the Stock Ale style, Samuel Adams® Boston Ale is fermented at cooler almost lager like temperatures and conditioned much longer than most ales. It also is Krausened and dry hopped.

I actually prefer this beer to the Boston Lager. Pours medium amber with an off-white head. Nice, sweet aroma. Mouthfeel is good, a little light. Taste is smoother than the lager with some sweetness. Not much of an aftertaste. Very tasty beer.

Serverad i lagerglas. Guldaktig färg, ganska fint skum. Inte helt förtjust i hur ölen känns i munnen. En ok öl som jag kan tänka mig nån gång. Hade dock väntat mig mer. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

UPDATED: MAY 25, 2013 Very strange beer. Almost no smell at all. The taste is too thin. But the aftertaste comes after a little while. However, it was a perfectly good beer to drink, I think. Follow me @ Kung av öl / King of Beer @ Facebook for more pictures and ratings.

12 oz. bottle. Dark gold pour, with a small, beige head. Big notes of caramel and toffee, with some light resinous and earthy aromas. Very sweet and malty, with little to no bitterness. Medium to heavy body, chalky, and sticky. Overall, this is a surprisingly malty and aggressive beer.

Clear dark amber with white head. Aroma is yeast bread. Taste of light caramel and bitter hop. Drinkable, but only an average beer. Why drink average?

355ml bottle from a publix in Kissimmee Florida. Orange with an off white head, looks like an ipa, not dark enough for an amber ale. Aroma of crystal malt and English hops. The flavour is balanced, and starts malty with a nice progression to the hops. Not overly sweet despite leaning on the the malt more so then the hops. Quite good as a session ale. FLVC2 #17

Full flavor.. A little too bitter bite for me, others may like, but this is a flat IPA ale IMOP. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone
