2.5 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 9/20 VT (796) - Quebec City, Quebec, CANADA - MAR 5, 2012
On tap at pub Hennessy’s in Boston. Deep red amber ale with an average white head. Not very tasty, subtle touch of sweet caramel, a hint of citrusy bitterness in the finish. Average body. Average beer. VT is not impressed.

Draft beantown pub. Pours clear golden orange amber with tight light white head and some lace. Aromas of grass, pine caramel and light dextrin. Nice piney bitterness, medium high carbonation - a touch of wheaty, bready maltiness lingering through the semi dry finish.

Pours a nice amber color. Tastes pretty malty with some caramel flavors. Decent beer. Only served in Boston so happy to get it while I’m here

(draught) dark copper with tan head. Caramel malt aroma. Flavor is caramel/bready malt. Solid red ale. I think it’s nice they have a brew you can only get in Boston.

A very good beer. Easy to drink and flavorfull. Can only get it on tap. Sam Adams does it again. :)

Served by an excellent bartender at Maggiano’s last night. Slightly doughy aroma, taste is caramel and oddly spicy. Really not hoppy. The strange thing about Sam’s draught, I find it tends to have a doughy/spicy character, no matter which style. The Winter and Boston lagers are like this too. Good idea for local taps only, though.
3.1 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 baraciisch (903) - USA - NOV 6, 2011
Had this at Old Ye Oyster House.... On draft, reddish in color... Flavor was unexciting, kind of standard red ale, can see why this isn’t available outside of Boston, probably no demand for it...

I was very excited to try this beer when I went to boston on vacation and I was disappointed. The beer lacked flavor and was watery for a red ale. I’ll stick to the original sam adams.

You have to go to new england to savor this beer. It pours a deep red with a off white head and has a great resin aroma and flavor, if your ever in Boston this is a must try!

On draft at the Green Dragon Tavern, Boston during our 2011 New England vacation. A fine session ale in the traditonal style.
