COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Samuel Adams Boston Lager® is the best example of the fundamental characteristics of a great beer, offering a full, rich flavor that is both balanced and complex. It is brewed using a decoction mash, a time consuming, traditional four vessel brewing process discarded by many contemporary brewers. This process brings forth a rich sweetness from the malt that makes it well worth the effort. Samuel Adams Boston Lager® also uses only the finest of ingredients including two row barley, as well as German Noble aroma hops. The exclusive use of two row barley not only imparts a full, smooth body but also gives the beer a wide spectrum of malt flavor ranging from slightly sweet to caramel to slightly roasted. The Noble hops varieties, Hallertau Mittelfruh and Tettnang Tettnanger, add a wide range of floral, piney and citrus notes, which are present from the aroma, through the flavor, to the lingering smooth finish. We take great pride in the Noble hops used in our beers. They are hand selected by Jim Koch and our other brewers from the world’s oldest hops growing area. Among the world’s most expensive, they cost twenty times as much as other hops.

Decent brew. Almost has a nice malty flavor like an ale, but still a little too bitter. Avg. head, weak aroma, not quite worth it for the money.

UPDATED: JAN 17, 2003 Wonderful! Not too bitter, not too sweet, and goes down remarkably easy. Good out of a bottle, and even better on tap.

Clear Amber color, foams up nicely and hangs in there. Good balance of sweet/bitter that finishes well. Sometimes this beer just hits the spot for me, especially after a bottle of something heavier. Reassuring that it’s so widely available when you need to order something decent in a place with limited choices - even better if they have it on tap.

If it weren’t from the US it would be a Bohemian Pilsener. Red to amber color. Stable head. Hoppy aroma. Opens malty with a sour note, spicy with fruit and some dark bread flavour in the main body(more body than average). Finish slightly dry. Aftertaste with spicy malt and dark bread flavours. At least for me this beer doesn’t have a hoppy character. Maybe compared with other US lagers this one has some more hops.

i can’t blelive i never rated this earlier. it’s gotta be one of the best beers ya can get at one of those dive bars where ya other choice’s are bud, coors, miller, labatt, molson, blah blah blah blah beers. One of the best mainstreamers out there in my opininion.

Crystal Clear golden amber color with a medium thick to thick head and good lace. Slightly sour and bitter well balanced aroma with a hint of sweetness. Malty flavor with a hint of sweetness and a hoppy finish. Just the right amount of sweetness and bitterness to make this a great beer. Smooth and light to medium bodied.
