Samuel Adams Boston Lager® is the best example of the fundamental characteristics of a great beer, offering a full, rich flavor that is both balanced and complex. It is brewed using a decoction mash, a time consuming, traditional four vessel brewing process discarded by many contemporary brewers. This process brings forth a rich sweetness from the malt that makes it well worth the effort. Samuel Adams Boston Lager® also uses only the finest of ingredients including two row barley, as well as German Noble aroma hops. The exclusive use of two row barley not only imparts a full, smooth body but also gives the beer a wide spectrum of malt flavor ranging from slightly sweet to caramel to slightly roasted. The Noble hops varieties, Hallertau Mittelfruh and Tettnang Tettnanger, add a wide range of floral, piney and citrus notes, which are present from the aroma, through the flavor, to the lingering smooth finish. We take great pride in the Noble hops used in our beers. They are hand selected by Jim Koch and our other brewers from the world’s oldest hops growing area. Among the world’s most expensive, they cost twenty times as much as other hops.

From bottle. Good taste with a light bite and medium weight. The type of beer where you can drink multiple during the night and have no complaints.

Creamy head over honey colored beer. Smells malty. Tastes of malt and mild lemon, with a mildly bitter finish. Palate is smooth, for being so light, carbonation fine. Pretty good for a lager.

On draft at the Samuel Adams Brew Club in Newark Airport and served in the authentic Sam Adams imperial pint glass. I’ve had this many times over the years and it’s one of the best bets when confronted with macro choices. A solid lager that deserves some credit for breaking ground for many microbrews in the northeast.

Flaske fra SB Strömstad. Gul/brun med mye hvitt skum som henger på glasset. Malt og humle aroma, smaker malt og litt karamell. Medium kullsyre, god bitter ettersmak. En god "når-som-helst-øl".

A lot of caramel in the malts, a bit of biscuit. Not a huge fan of the aroma, to me it is a bit off putting.

Don’t normally like hops but this is balanced and drinkable. Very good middle rung beer.

Una buona ed onesta lager. Profumata, bilanciata, dal gusto pueno di miele di castagno con l’amaro che persiste ma non stanca. Una birra semplice e ben fatta da bere sempre.

Backlog, tried bottled and on tap a number of times. While not as good as the more hoppy and outspoken beers in this category, this is still a very good amber.
