4.5 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 19/20
Deep golden c olour, with a rich creamy head that never seems to vanish, lots of lace. Smell is floral, hoppy, (not surewhich hop is used, but smells a bil like marijuana). OK, I’ve seen Noble Hops in another review. Caramel and grains. Silky creamy palate, good carbonation. Taste of caramels, malty, grains. Hoppy bitter finish.

3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Appearance: it has a clear copper-amber color with medium head. Aroma: smells like caramel malts and some herbs. Tastes like toasted malts, caramel and some bread notes. Drinkable.

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Another solid everyday choice from the top macro brewer out there. The Rodney Dangerfield of craft beers, this one gets no respect these days, but quietly kicks ass anyway. Caramel malts and silky smooth Noble Hops. Still by far the best macro introduction to craft brews out there.

2.4 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 10/20
While I expected a lot more from Sam Adams, this sorta falls flat. What used to be a good craft brewer has become another beer manufacturer. Lost is the favors of the hops. Smooth drinking. Could replace a Budweiser for daily drinking.

I’ve only had this a couple of times, not really my favorite... but it could be a lot worse.

2.1 AROMA 2/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 10/20
Pours a very filtered dark amber. Thin white head. Active carbonation.
Aromas of wet cardboard. Unfortunately not much else.
Mouthfeel is light and crisp.
Tastes are very light caramel malts, and some bready yeasts.
Overall, compared to what I usually drink, this is just a macro, masquerading as a craft brew.

UPDATED: DEC 16, 2014 No matter how many years later and all the new craft beers Sam Adams Boston lager always tastes good. Excellent balance, session able, great alone or with food. Always good on tap a widely available go to beer.

3.1 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Clear amber colour and a white head which fades quickly. There are bready aromas, and the taste is dominated by malts, giving a bread-like flavour, almost corn-like in its sweetness. The taste is predominantly sweet, with the noble hops providing a certain citrusy fruitiness but not much bitterness. There are also hints of pine resin and floral notes. A well-made Vienna-style lager with plenty of character, but just a little too sweet for my taste.

3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Craft lager at it´s finest. Far removed from pisswater lagers of macro brewery lore. Pours amber with slight haze, typical vienna lager. Aroma is bready and crisp, hint of noble hops. Taste is sweet and very bready, could be a little more bitter on the backend, but acceptable for the style. Real thirst quencher.

3.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bottle 355 ml. Golden and clear appearance with a small compact head. Sweet and malty aroma. Taste of caramel and different malt flavours. Nice balanced bitterness. Not too complex. An excellent lager.
