Samuel Adams Boston Lager® is the best example of the fundamental characteristics of a great beer, offering a full, rich flavor that is both balanced and complex. It is brewed using a decoction mash, a time consuming, traditional four vessel brewing process discarded by many contemporary brewers. This process brings forth a rich sweetness from the malt that makes it well worth the effort. Samuel Adams Boston Lager® also uses only the finest of ingredients including two row barley, as well as German Noble aroma hops. The exclusive use of two row barley not only imparts a full, smooth body but also gives the beer a wide spectrum of malt flavor ranging from slightly sweet to caramel to slightly roasted. The Noble hops varieties, Hallertau Mittelfruh and Tettnang Tettnanger, add a wide range of floral, piney and citrus notes, which are present from the aroma, through the flavor, to the lingering smooth finish. We take great pride in the Noble hops used in our beers. They are hand selected by Jim Koch and our other brewers from the world’s oldest hops growing area. Among the world’s most expensive, they cost twenty times as much as other hops.

Belle ambrée, mousse blanc-cassé relativement persistante. Arôme houblonné citrus, puis caramel. En bouche douce en caramel avant de s’affirmer en houblon avec une bonne amertume assez durable. Carbonation moyenne. Très bonne Lager.

I’m not going to say this is a bad beer. But it is HIGHLY overrated. To say it is a craft beer is kind of a joke. While it is good, and better than the standard domestic beers in the US, it is by no means comparable to any microbrew beer I have had. It has some hoppiness and some flavor/complexity to it, but, again, doesn’t compare to any true microbrew lager.

Pours bronze with a white head. An earthen taste of malts, with a tinge of bitterness. A very pleasant beer to drink, would try this one again.

Pół-przejrzysty, ciemno zloty kolor. Biala piana na jeden palec, tworzy lagerowa obraczkę. Jęczmienno- trawiasty aromat, plata sie karmelowa slodycz. W smaku slod jeczmienny i leciutka, ale przyjemna goryczka. Cytrusowy finisz, za mocno nasycony. Dobry lager.

Boston Lager is rapidly becoming my beer of choice when there is a limited beer selection at a restaurant. Aroma- a great hoppy aroma Appearance- a great yellow color, clear and a great off-white colored head Taste- A slightly hoppy flavor that has a hint of malt a little bitter that makes this very enjoyable for me. Palate-a medium bodied beer with a moderate carbonation. Overall- a good Vienna lager, I was slow to come around to this beer but I am glad that I have.

I recall liking this more several years ago...still much better than the mass produced industrial swill, but nothing special. What gets me, however is the marketing nonsense about Jim Koch personally selecting "the world’s most expensive hops that cost 20 times as much as other hops." Total BS.

Bottle 330ml. Pours clear, dark bronze-brown. Head is short foamy and almost white. Aroma is sweat of light malt and caramel, very typical of the style. Mouth feel is tangy with nice bitter-hops tickling on tongue and medium to soft carbonation. Texture is watery to oily with a very light body. Flavor start slightly sweat of caramel and light roasted malt, then overcomes by nice, not too strong, hop bitterness. Flavors are of bitter herbal hops, slightly citrusy, very slightly sour. Quite good balance with some layers of flavor, but the overall flavor combination is very boring and lacking in complexity. Leaves a bitter-sweat finish which is slightly unpleasantly sticky. Its a nice beer for this style, with nothing wrong with it (other then the aftertaste). Can be a great lunchtime, everyday beer, but is nothing special.

Amber in color, grainy nose and flavor and not much else. This is usually my go to if I am out and there is nothing else on tap.
