Samuel Adams Boston Lager® is the best example of the fundamental characteristics of a great beer, offering a full, rich flavor that is both balanced and complex. It is brewed using a decoction mash, a time consuming, traditional four vessel brewing process discarded by many contemporary brewers. This process brings forth a rich sweetness from the malt that makes it well worth the effort. Samuel Adams Boston Lager® also uses only the finest of ingredients including two row barley, as well as German Noble aroma hops. The exclusive use of two row barley not only imparts a full, smooth body but also gives the beer a wide spectrum of malt flavor ranging from slightly sweet to caramel to slightly roasted. The Noble hops varieties, Hallertau Mittelfruh and Tettnang Tettnanger, add a wide range of floral, piney and citrus notes, which are present from the aroma, through the flavor, to the lingering smooth finish. We take great pride in the Noble hops used in our beers. They are hand selected by Jim Koch and our other brewers from the world’s oldest hops growing area. Among the world’s most expensive, they cost twenty times as much as other hops.

Can at the Heart Attack Grill, Las Vegas. Light amber colour, creamy offwhite head. Caramel malty nose and taste, mildly sweet, slightly roasted, very light bitterness. Medium body, low carbonation.

Sharzie from Rory. This was a surprise. Mellow malty complex with lovely noble hops coming through the finish. A distinctive beer style that I’ve not tasted before.

(12oz bottle, North Carolina) appearance: medium Amber (reddish brown), simple head that dissociates pretty quick, some lacing. Nose: warm, malty, grain, touch of herbs and citrus/orange. Taste: front end is simple malt/beer flavor, followed by some body, fermented corn/grain, fare amount of acidity. Palate: bitter follow thru with hops remaining on the inside of cheeks, oily/clingy, tartness. Overall: relatively flavorful and complicated lager with good body and bitterness. A solid beer.

I’m getting drunk on a plane. Seven hundred pennies seems a lot to pay for this beer.

I’ve had fun trying hundreds of beers and ales but when i want a nice refreshing lager, i keep coming back to this one. Could be the Swiss Army Knife of malted beverages. A nice ’safe’ choice for parties where not everyone might share your interest in the extreme and envelope pushing projects.

35cc bottle. Pours clear amber color with thick beige head. Pleasant ale-like hopy, floral, caramel, honey and toffee aromas. Complex for a lager. Medium body. Low bitter and malty taste. Not a refreshing type of lager. Liked it

From Taste of America. In Teku glass. After dinner. Not much foam. High drinkability with a pleasant bitterness. I wish Seville’s lagers were like Boston’s ones

I hadn't rated this? Uh. Amber colored. Interesting creamy malty body. Easy drinking, decent choice readily available, you know the score.

bastarda (377) - Freiburg, GERMANY - NOV 6, 2015
bought@Bierhandlung Freiburg, shared with Konfuzzi; a thoroughly well-balanced, smooth, easy drinking, sessionable lager. Herbal, citrusy hops in aroma bringing a whiff of Britishness, while being an unobtrusive, elegant counterpart as well as continuation of the fine caramel notes in taste. Dry, clean finish. Great beer. Wonder why its so - imho - underrated here.
