COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Samuel Adams Boston Lager® is the best example of the fundamental characteristics of a great beer, offering a full, rich flavor that is both balanced and complex. It is brewed using a decoction mash, a time consuming, traditional four vessel brewing process discarded by many contemporary brewers. This process brings forth a rich sweetness from the malt that makes it well worth the effort. Samuel Adams Boston Lager® also uses only the finest of ingredients including two row barley, as well as German Noble aroma hops. The exclusive use of two row barley not only imparts a full, smooth body but also gives the beer a wide spectrum of malt flavor ranging from slightly sweet to caramel to slightly roasted. The Noble hops varieties, Hallertau Mittelfruh and Tettnang Tettnanger, add a wide range of floral, piney and citrus notes, which are present from the aroma, through the flavor, to the lingering smooth finish. We take great pride in the Noble hops used in our beers. They are hand selected by Jim Koch and our other brewers from the world’s oldest hops growing area. Among the world’s most expensive, they cost twenty times as much as other hops.

Staple beer with no much that stands out. Decent but nothing spectacular. Well blended but somewhat muted.

12 oz. bottle from Trader Joe’s. Deep golden color with a rich creamy head. Smell is slightly hoppy. Taste of caramel malt and grains combine for a silky, creamy palate. Good carbonation. Balanced, dry, slightly bitter finish. It’s hard to find fault here. It’s just a fine basic lager that is, thankfully, widely available. A standard.

A rich lager with a slightly bitter finish. Poured from a bottle with a frothy head and a ring of lace lasting the whole glass.

Poured from 12oz bottle into Sam Adams glass Appearance: A 2" sudsy off white head slowly drops with mild lacing. Mostly clear light amber appearance with tons of streaming carbonation. Aroma: fresh bread dough is dominate, also a hint of sweetness and some tangy, earthy hops. Mouthfeel: fairly light and slick with a crisp, dry finish. Flavor: combination of the sweet barley/bread dough flavor with floral and citrus rind hops. Overall: This beer has grown on me as of late. For years I didn’t really care for it, but I have found it more enjoyable in recent months.

12oz bottle in pint glass. Medium-Dark amber color, 4fin of tall foamy bubbly khaki head. Smells of floral hops, Tastes of hops and oak barrel. Old timey and old-towny, smooth with bitter finish. Pretty good balance of hops, which I always think is a fine quality in a standard brew. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

One if my favorite standard lager readily available in the us. Surely no where near the class of stronger belgian style ales which are my favorites. However far better than cheap american beers

I admit I don’t like lager - had this SA Boston Lager at a function last night cos it was the best of a shitty bunch on offer - meh, it barely registered on any level but soon disappeared so I’ve marked it accordingly as not shit but won’t go there again in a hurry.
