COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Samuel Adams Boston Lager® is the best example of the fundamental characteristics of a great beer, offering a full, rich flavor that is both balanced and complex. It is brewed using a decoction mash, a time consuming, traditional four vessel brewing process discarded by many contemporary brewers. This process brings forth a rich sweetness from the malt that makes it well worth the effort. Samuel Adams Boston Lager® also uses only the finest of ingredients including two row barley, as well as German Noble aroma hops. The exclusive use of two row barley not only imparts a full, smooth body but also gives the beer a wide spectrum of malt flavor ranging from slightly sweet to caramel to slightly roasted. The Noble hops varieties, Hallertau Mittelfruh and Tettnang Tettnanger, add a wide range of floral, piney and citrus notes, which are present from the aroma, through the flavor, to the lingering smooth finish. We take great pride in the Noble hops used in our beers. They are hand selected by Jim Koch and our other brewers from the world’s oldest hops growing area. Among the world’s most expensive, they cost twenty times as much as other hops.

Clear copper with a large light tan head that stays around for a while. Nice lacing on the glass. Aroma of honey. Light sweetness. Can’t exactly pinpoint flavors up front, but I get a hint of cherry on the back end? Haven’t seen anyone else say that so that might just be me. Decent carbonation. Goes down easy. Pretty refreshing beer. Not bad. Not great. Might be the best lager I’ve had so far though.

Nice amber colored beer with good head. A little bit of malty flavors but drinks smooth like a lager should. Pretty good mid level beer.

12 oz. bottle. Pours a clear, amber-orange with a frothy white head that lasts a long time. Aromas of citrus, grass, and hay. Taste is a bit bitter with a metallic "tinge" to it. It’s medium-bodied with a lightly creamy texture. Finish is on the dry side with a hint of orange. Carbonation is average. In my book, this one is nothing special, yet it’s good enough that I would drink it again. Pleasing, but not outstanding.

Sam Adams Boston Lager is full bodied beer with nice aroma, beautiful amber color, and just a hint of hops. I've found it to have slightly bitter finish. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone I just had a couple of pints of Guinness-excellent

Good. I consider this a standard when you dont want to break the bank on something special. Better than any American Standard.

A great beer staple and good with many foods. A balanced flavorful hops and sweet malt. It doesn’t jump out of the glass as the flavors are mild due to the intended balance.

This is a decent lager, but it’s still not much to write home about. This beer is pretty much characteristic of a standard above-average lager. It certainly has more flavor than the macros in its class, but I just can’t bring myself to really enjoy it. As for unique characteristics, it goes down a bit bitter, but the finish is abrupt and clean.

Clear Amber color, good carbonation. Some maltiness, and a little hops. A little piney. This was actually better than I thought. I hadn’t had SA Boston Lager in a while, but this was not dull at all. Nice malitness and hop balance. Light to medium body and some dryness.
