COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Samuel Adams Boston Lager® is the best example of the fundamental characteristics of a great beer, offering a full, rich flavor that is both balanced and complex. It is brewed using a decoction mash, a time consuming, traditional four vessel brewing process discarded by many contemporary brewers. This process brings forth a rich sweetness from the malt that makes it well worth the effort. Samuel Adams Boston Lager® also uses only the finest of ingredients including two row barley, as well as German Noble aroma hops. The exclusive use of two row barley not only imparts a full, smooth body but also gives the beer a wide spectrum of malt flavor ranging from slightly sweet to caramel to slightly roasted. The Noble hops varieties, Hallertau Mittelfruh and Tettnang Tettnanger, add a wide range of floral, piney and citrus notes, which are present from the aroma, through the flavor, to the lingering smooth finish. We take great pride in the Noble hops used in our beers. They are hand selected by Jim Koch and our other brewers from the world’s oldest hops growing area. Among the world’s most expensive, they cost twenty times as much as other hops.

Dear God, Thanks for giving us such a wonderful gift. Spicy, hearty and smooth. Day or night, cold or hot it’s beautiful. Makes a GREAT beer batter. And it’s my lucky beer. 4 hours, 13 Boston Lagers, 2 dice, 1 casino 12k. Yeah, yum!!!

UPDATED: NOV 10, 2006 Samuel Adams Boston Lager 24 oz bottle Recent bottling, appreciated 09/06 Medium pour in a pilsner glass Poured copper bronze with a 1/2 white mostly diminishing white frothy head. Smelt of dark bready malts and soft citrus hops. Taste was upfront medium piney bitter hops and very slightly citrusy as well, with the follow through a bit like sweet dark bread melding with the remaining bitter hoppiness for a pleasant lingering finish. Mouthfeel was medium and dry with lively carbonation. Overall, in my humble opinion, the best mass-marketed lager on the american market, an serves as a great entry point to the world of beer to the unitiated cheap american pilsner drinkers.

Aroma - floral, citrus, slight fruitiness; Appearance - copper, thick fluffy head, excellent lacing; Taste - complex malt front, hint of sweetness, subtle hop notes blend in throughout the back, finish has a mild tang; Palate - faint crispness, good body; Overall - always a classic, so easy to overlook as an over-commercialized micro yet still solid in all areas, quite enjoyable.

Sam Adams lager is a very good beer with a nice flavor. Slightly sweet and roasty, but also has a nice hops kick to it. The only down side is that it can be rich and is not always easy to drink too many of these if that’s what you are into.

The original! Really great session beer. Perfect with steak, burgers or anything really. Great hop flavor but not too hoppy. Well balanced, great for drinking!

Everything good and noble about American beer can be applied to Boston Lager. This darkish lager plays Grey Goose to Budweiser’s Popov.

12 oz bottle. Copper in color with a nice long lasting head. Aroma of citrus hops balanced by a sweetness of malts. When you smell it you know it is Boston Lager. Body is crisp and firm . Nicely balanced in flavor, with citrusy hops slightly dominate over malts. Just perfect but highly underrated lager.

One of my favorite beers. Hoppy enough to give good aroma andd flavor, but not overpowering. Pretty filling and has decent enough mouth feel to be a mass produced beer. Can’t go wrong here.

*This is a Must try Beer* We really like this beer, It seems it is all a lager should be, rather than read the descriptions this is one you really need to go out and try. When we buy beer it is usually a toss up between the Sam Adams Boston Lager and something else.

One of my all time favorites! A huge fan of anything made by the Boston Beer Company! This lager is so good, most of my foreign friends drink and enjoy it! Outstanding hop aroma and flavor, one of the freshest tasting beers available. Excellentt maltiness comes through on every sip, counterbalanced extremely well by the pleasant bitterness. Creamy head that you can stand your beer cap on! An excellent world class beer!
