COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Samuel Adams Boston Lager® is the best example of the fundamental characteristics of a great beer, offering a full, rich flavor that is both balanced and complex. It is brewed using a decoction mash, a time consuming, traditional four vessel brewing process discarded by many contemporary brewers. This process brings forth a rich sweetness from the malt that makes it well worth the effort. Samuel Adams Boston Lager® also uses only the finest of ingredients including two row barley, as well as German Noble aroma hops. The exclusive use of two row barley not only imparts a full, smooth body but also gives the beer a wide spectrum of malt flavor ranging from slightly sweet to caramel to slightly roasted. The Noble hops varieties, Hallertau Mittelfruh and Tettnang Tettnanger, add a wide range of floral, piney and citrus notes, which are present from the aroma, through the flavor, to the lingering smooth finish. We take great pride in the Noble hops used in our beers. They are hand selected by Jim Koch and our other brewers from the world’s oldest hops growing area. Among the world’s most expensive, they cost twenty times as much as other hops.

My favorite beer of all time. This beer started it all. It is just awesome. The flavor is very unique and enjoyable. Very smooth. The well balanced use of hops and malts create an attractive candy feel. This beer gets better as it warms because all the flavors seem to come out in a breathtaking encore. If you have never had any Sam Adams yet, try the Boston Lager first!

Beautiful hop nose full of anticipation, nice amber color. Perfect balance of German noble hops and sweet malt. This truly is the best beer in America.

Bottle pored into frosted lager glass. Pours to a bold copper color with a thick nearly white head that slowly dissipates and laces the glass with every swig. Wonderful scent with extremely present floral hops and not much else. The balance of flavors is perfection. The malts are there and the hops that linger on the finish are more noticeable than in most lagers, but not to an overwhelming degree (unless drank strait from the bottle.) This beer is pretty carbonated and really makes your mouth feel alive. I would feel very hard pressed to find a better lager.

WOW!! Great beer, very long hoppy flavor with some caramel at the end to top this amazing beer off. Little to no head, pours golden.

Pours a frothy white head and is deep gold to amber in color. Light, floral, fresh hop aroma with malt beneath. Delicate, fresh hop taste with a gentle maltiness that supports. The body is light medium, and the mouthfeel is creamy with soft carbonation. The finish is gentle, and beckons the drinker to take another sip. This is a great brew for the beer aficionado and the beginner alike. Those who are used to standard American lagers (Bud, Miller, Coors, ect…) may have their heads blown off by this beer that uses all malt and has hops present in the aroma, flavor, and bitterness. The seasoned beer lover will appreciate the artistry that goes into crafting a good, clean, delicate lager with balance between malt, hops, alcohol, and carbonation. I’ve found that many microbreweries and brewpubs here in the U.S. try to include a lager of this sort in their line-up and fail miserably. This style is deceptively simple, partly because any flavor defect will stick out like a sore thumb; therefore the brewing, fermentation, and storage process (particular emphasis on the last 2) must run like a Swiss watch.

One of the best lagers Ive ever tasted. Floral presence of noble hops impresses from start to finish. Then theres a touch of citrus, which lingers in a most satisfying way. The malty taste presents itself as a creamy caramel, which adds to the beers overal excellence.

One of the finest lagers available with an interesting mix of hops and the sweet malt is also given some well deserved space.

Maybe the best lager I ever tried, and surely the only one I will never get bored. Balanced, fresh, tasty but not sticky... For cap collectors: dark blue cap with the same imprint "Samuel Adams. Boston Lager" as the label.

The go to for when nothing else available... always clean and tasty. The hops are very supportive of the malt.
