COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Samuel Adams Boston Lager® is the best example of the fundamental characteristics of a great beer, offering a full, rich flavor that is both balanced and complex. It is brewed using a decoction mash, a time consuming, traditional four vessel brewing process discarded by many contemporary brewers. This process brings forth a rich sweetness from the malt that makes it well worth the effort. Samuel Adams Boston Lager® also uses only the finest of ingredients including two row barley, as well as German Noble aroma hops. The exclusive use of two row barley not only imparts a full, smooth body but also gives the beer a wide spectrum of malt flavor ranging from slightly sweet to caramel to slightly roasted. The Noble hops varieties, Hallertau Mittelfruh and Tettnang Tettnanger, add a wide range of floral, piney and citrus notes, which are present from the aroma, through the flavor, to the lingering smooth finish. We take great pride in the Noble hops used in our beers. They are hand selected by Jim Koch and our other brewers from the world’s oldest hops growing area. Among the world’s most expensive, they cost twenty times as much as other hops.

To me, this beer occupies a level somewhere between decent cheap beers (e.g. MGD) and my current favorites (e.g. Sierra Nevada Pale Ale, Porter, and Celebration Ale). When it’s fresh, it’s very pleasing and somewhat delicious. Aftertaste has a little bit of a bite. When it’s not fresh (which has been most of the time for me) it’s lost its sweetness and delicateness, and tastes a little bit sour. It also appears cloudy when you hold a glass of it up to the light. Why wouldn’t it be fresh? you might ask, especially since they mark the expiration date on the bottle. My advice is to take that expiration date, and subtract two or three months to get the real expiration date.

Bonne lager à la robe cuivrée. Belle longueur boisée. De la complexité et un bel équilibre. Bière assez forte pour une Lager.

Purchased in bottle from a supermakret in Hong Kong. The apprearnce is attractive, with clear amber and copper colour, and with smooth white head, look like color of ale than typical lagar. A delightful mixed tatse of malt, pine and caramel, slightly sweet but natural.

Color dorado ambarino, tránslucido, con capa de espuma blanca de dos dedos de grosor (buena retención y se pega a las paredes del vaso). Carbonatación a tope.

One of the rare lager I like. Light copper colour is very nice, very hoppy and both characteristics are not usual for typical lager. Malt, citrus, caramel. British taste from New England. Just a little bit watery, which I do not like.

Aus der Flasche getrunken (Händlerlieferung). Sieht aus, wie ein Wiener Lager und schmeckt auch so. Was soll man mehr sagen?
