COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Samuel Adams Boston Lager® is the best example of the fundamental characteristics of a great beer, offering a full, rich flavor that is both balanced and complex. It is brewed using a decoction mash, a time consuming, traditional four vessel brewing process discarded by many contemporary brewers. This process brings forth a rich sweetness from the malt that makes it well worth the effort. Samuel Adams Boston Lager® also uses only the finest of ingredients including two row barley, as well as German Noble aroma hops. The exclusive use of two row barley not only imparts a full, smooth body but also gives the beer a wide spectrum of malt flavor ranging from slightly sweet to caramel to slightly roasted. The Noble hops varieties, Hallertau Mittelfruh and Tettnang Tettnanger, add a wide range of floral, piney and citrus notes, which are present from the aroma, through the flavor, to the lingering smooth finish. We take great pride in the Noble hops used in our beers. They are hand selected by Jim Koch and our other brewers from the world’s oldest hops growing area. Among the world’s most expensive, they cost twenty times as much as other hops.

UPDATED: MAY 13, 2014 Needed to re rate after not trying this in a while. Beautiful pour with a white fluffy head that stays around until the end and a near perfect balance of malts & hops, though I wish it was ever so slightly more hoppy. With that said, this is an extraordinarily good lager and this will be my new go to. Super smooth body with an ale like caramel & hop character that’s so easy & satisfying to drink, A+.

Having grown up in Massachusetts, you’d think I was weaned off of this, but it’s not something I typically go for, and now I know why.

355ml bottle, vibrant orange colour, slightly hazy. rich whitehead and accompanying lacing aroma of malts and hoppy fruitniness - sweet citrus like orange or tangerine. light caramel in taste, slightly, behindhand bitterness. high carbonation. I like that one

Keg at Orlando Airport, 13th November 14. Pours dark for a lager. The drink has a good flavour, malt come through and slight caramel, refreshing, not bad

Piwo butelkowe. W aromacie kwieciście, ziołowo. Kolor złoty klarowny, wysycenie średnie, piana prawie znikoma. W smaku pełne o zdecydowanym słodowym profilu, kukurydziane w smaku, lekko żywiczne. Goryczka niska. Dobry lager, ale pompy nie wygina.

Deep golden c olour, with a rich creamy head that never seems to vanish, lots of lace. Smell is floral, hoppy, (not surewhich hop is used, but smells a bil like marijuana). OK, I’ve seen Noble Hops in another review. Caramel and grains. Silky creamy palate, good carbonation. Taste of caramels, malty, grains. Hoppy bitter finish.

Appearance: it has a clear copper-amber color with medium head. Aroma: smells like caramel malts and some herbs. Tastes like toasted malts, caramel and some bread notes. Drinkable.

Another solid everyday choice from the top macro brewer out there. The Rodney Dangerfield of craft beers, this one gets no respect these days, but quietly kicks ass anyway. Caramel malts and silky smooth Noble Hops. Still by far the best macro introduction to craft brews out there.

While I expected a lot more from Sam Adams, this sorta falls flat. What used to be a good craft brewer has become another beer manufacturer. Lost is the favors of the hops. Smooth drinking. Could replace a Budweiser for daily drinking.

I’ve only had this a couple of times, not really my favorite... but it could be a lot worse.

Pours a very filtered dark amber. Thin white head. Active carbonation. Aromas of wet cardboard. Unfortunately not much else. Mouthfeel is light and crisp. Tastes are very light caramel malts, and some bready yeasts. Overall, compared to what I usually drink, this is just a macro, masquerading as a craft brew.
