Commercial Description:
Samuel Adams Boston Lager® is the best example of the fundamental characteristics of a great beer, offering a full, rich flavor that is both balanced and complex. It is brewed using a decoction mash, a time consuming, traditional four vessel brewing process discarded by many contemporary brewers. This process brings forth a rich sweetness from the malt that makes it well worth the effort. Samuel Adams Boston Lager® also uses only the finest of ingredients including two row barley, as well as German Noble aroma hops. The exclusive use of two row barley not only imparts a full, smooth body but also gives the beer a wide spectrum of malt flavor ranging from slightly sweet to caramel to slightly roasted. The Noble hops varieties, Hallertau Mittelfruh and Tettnang Tettnanger, add a wide range of floral, piney and citrus notes, which are present from the aroma, through the flavor, to the lingering smooth finish. We take great pride in the Noble hops used in our beers. They are hand selected by Jim Koch and our other brewers from the world's oldest hops growing area. Among the world's most expensive, they cost twenty times as much as other hops.

Had in bottle at Planet Hollywood Casino. Only other choices were domestics. The beer was dark and had good taste. I was impressed little hops and slightly sweet. Good beer for the poker table.

Not my first time tasting, but I might as well go ahead and rate it. This is my standby beer that I know I will be able to find anywhere. Really good lager, and most people are willing to drink it. Great for parties, etc. Pour is a nice amber, with a nice mild hoppiness in the nose. Good head on this beer. Taste is crisp. Slightly hoppy and well balanced with the malt. Very satisfying.

I’ve had this beer so many times I can’t even count the frequency or locations. A downside to living in south Florida is that, at the majority of establishments, this is the best beer available. A typical pour is an amber color with a fingernail of off-white head. The nose is floral, citrusy hops. Same flavors with bread-like malts and a pleasantly balanced hop presence. The aroma is usually better than the flavor. Medium carbonation and body. This beer will usually pair well with steaks and similar cuisine. For a macrobrew, I find this to be better than average. Is it just me or does this have more qualities of an ale than a lager?

Bottle and Draught. Pour is amber and the nose is hops and sweet malts. It all falls a bit flat when it touches your lips. Biscuit and good hopping with a light body. Great when your at that bar that offers nothing else decent.

Flowery-hoppy aroma on this dark golden lager. Sooooo many promisses in the nose, yet it turns out to be an Amber in disguise... though better than most, it’s bready in the classic Amber sense. The hops are up front, though they’re mild by IPA standards and the yeast is their king. Fresh baked bread rules.

Mainly smells like clean citrus and grain, slightly on the uneventful side as far as aroma goes. Amber color pour with a small white head. Pretty good hop flavor, and very smooth. Leaves a slight bitter hop flavor in your mouth. Very good for an American mass-produced beer. I would buy it again.
