Commercial Description:
Samuel Adams Boston Lager® is the best example of the fundamental characteristics of a great beer, offering a full, rich flavor that is both balanced and complex. It is brewed using a decoction mash, a time consuming, traditional four vessel brewing process discarded by many contemporary brewers. This process brings forth a rich sweetness from the malt that makes it well worth the effort. Samuel Adams Boston Lager® also uses only the finest of ingredients including two row barley, as well as German Noble aroma hops. The exclusive use of two row barley not only imparts a full, smooth body but also gives the beer a wide spectrum of malt flavor ranging from slightly sweet to caramel to slightly roasted. The Noble hops varieties, Hallertau Mittelfruh and Tettnang Tettnanger, add a wide range of floral, piney and citrus notes, which are present from the aroma, through the flavor, to the lingering smooth finish. We take great pride in the Noble hops used in our beers. They are hand selected by Jim Koch and our other brewers from the world's oldest hops growing area. Among the world's most expensive, they cost twenty times as much as other hops.

A very dependable beer. This style is not my favorite, however, the beer has gone a long way in changing the beer culture in America. For a long time, and still today, people drink the B-M-C out of habit. It’s not necessarily that they think those are good, but most people don’t think of anything else when it comes to beer. Sam Adams has introduced a genuinely good, mainstream option.

Definitely a favorite of mine out of the typical beers you can get just about anywhere. Small head, nice floral aroma balanced with a touch of malt, light amber in appearance. Well balanced hop flavor, but a touch too watery, not as full bodied as it should be. I wouldn’t turn one down though, it’s a solid beer in my book.

If you ever go out to a chain resturant for dinner (think Applebees, Olive Garden, Chilis) then this is probably the best beer you will find on tap. This old reliable has saved me countelss times when the only other choices were coors light, bud light, etc. This is a decent beer, completely respectable in everyway, yet not god enough to compete with the craft brews such as Stone, Southern Tier, etc.

355 ml bottle, 4.8% abv. A firm, mostly lasting yellowish-white head. Brilliant, deep golden colored body. Beautiful malt aroma; suitable sweet, lightly toasted with pepper and caramel notes. Also a whiff of dark dried fruits and grassy hops. Taste has a nice sourish malt profile with a distinct bitterness. Notes of herbs and unripe fruits. Medium body. Dry malty, light bitter ending. Reliable.

not bad a good easy to find semi popular beer, aroma of mild malts and grains, really not a ton of hops compared to some of the other hop giants out there, contrary to their commercials. All and all if I’m having a cheap steak not a bad beer to go with it.
