Commercial Description:
The Brown Ale is a traditional beer related to the first beers ever brewed commercially. Brewed with an interesting blend of malts, including pale two-row Harrington, Metcalfe, and Maris Otter malt, Caramel, Munich, and roasted Carafa malts, the Brown Ale shines with a deep mahogany luster. The malt flavor is complex and deep as well, with notes of biscuit, nut, and caramel. With moderate hop bitterness, a deep malt body, and a fruity ale fermentation character, the Samuel Adams Brown Ale satisfies the soul and doesn’t overwhelm the tongue.

Poured a dark red with a small tannish head. The aroma was of nuts, caramel, and malt. It left a slight lacing on the glass. The taste was a lot of caramel and a littly nutty. It wasn’t the best, but better than most.

Bottle. A reddish/brown color pour with a small light tan head, medium carbonation, small amount of lacing. Aroma is toasty ,slightly nutty, hints of hops.Flavor is of toasted caramel malt, slightly sweet, nutty, a bit of yeasty fruit type notes, with a slight bitterness, a dusty fruity finish. This was better than expected but nothing special, a good sessionable brown ale with solid flavor.

Thin white head with some lacing left as honey caramel brown colored beer goes down. Sweet malt aroma, a little thin. A thin caramel taste with maybe a hint of honey in there and some toffee as well. Bit of a bite in the end. Would be a nice drink at the bar over the usual macro options, has the potential to be much more but is easy to drink and enjoyable.

Overall Impression: One of the Sam’s you can find pretty often, especially in those mix packs. Always thought of this as a pretty solid brown, nice looking beer with some interesting flavor characteristics.

Bottle. Poured a clear dark brown color with ruddy light shining through. Smelled of nuts, cola, subdued chocolate, and earthy root. Medium bodied and slightly sweet. Nutty flavor with notes of chocolate and caramel. There was also a distinct lingering graham cracker flavor. Good stuff.

Pours clear, brassy brown in color, with a small head of fizzy taupe foam. Minimal, wet spotting mostly rejoins the body. The nose shows light caramel malt, sweetened grain, and faint traces of nuttiness. Flavors are the same, mostly grainy and caramelized, with very little hop chaacter. Light in body but balanced, it’s drinkable enough, but lacks anything resembling excitement. Decent.
