glennmastrange (807), hobe sound, Florida, USA Nov 29, 2008 Bottle. Moderate malt notes of dark bread and roasted, light flowers for the hops, very light dough for the yeast with hints of grape and brown sugar. Head is frothy, off-white with fair lacing and is mostly diminishing. Color is clear brown. Flavor starts lightly sweet and acidic, then finishes lightly acidic and moderately bitter. Palate is light to medium, watery and has a lively carbonation. It finishes lightly alcoholic and dry. A good beer, but nothing daring, like most Samuel Adams offerings. penguinjive7 (67), Buffalo, New York, USA Nov 21, 2008 Pours a nice mahogany brown with a couple of fingers of white head that retains and leaves some lacing.
The smell is mainly caramel malt with some butterscotch mixed in.
The different malts blend nicely in the taste, but with a hint of a metallic finish. A hint of buttery biscuit can be tasted, but it very masked.
This is a very light bodied brew. I would expect a fuller body body form this one. A bit on the watery side for a brown in my opinion. An easy drinking brew that is very nice overall, but I just don’t feel fulfilled by this one as far as body and content goes.

Sweet and slightly flat with caramel from front to back. darn1207 (529), Tallahassee, Florida, USA Oct 25, 2008 12oz bottle. clear brown pour with a medium tan head. caramel malt aroma. thin tingly palate. taste is nutty, coffee and caramel malts with a hint of grass. bit metallic in the aftertaste. WickerBrew (312), Chicago, Illinois, USA Oct 20, 2008 I really didnt have big expectations for this for some reason. SA does some pretty good stuff but this was blander then usuall for them. Not a whole lot of a dry ale kick to it, and not really sweet and nutty either.I think it was too thin and overcarbonated. Might be better on tap, but this could use a boost somehow. Trev (850), Lakeville, Minnesota, USA Oct 15, 2008 pours a ruby brown with a thin tan head.
Aroma is roast malt, slightly nutty,
biscuity flavour, sweet nuttiness, some bitterness in the finish.
Not too bad actually. Radek Kliber (3926), Toronto (Can) Krotoszyn (Pol), Ontario, Canada Oct 13, 2008 Bottle 355 ml
Appearance: clear light brown ale with light creamy top 3- Nose: Nutty aroma with slight brown malt accents, honey like backing. Flavor/Palate : Medium light bodied. Brown malt with slight bitterness, thinner in middle and with watery finish. Felt plain and straight forward but with our major flaws. Average.
