Commercial Description:
The Brown Ale is a traditional beer related to the first beers ever brewed commercially. Brewed with an interesting blend of malts, including pale two-row Harrington, Metcalfe, and Maris Otter malt, Caramel, Munich, and roasted Carafa malts, the Brown Ale shines with a deep mahogany luster. The malt flavor is complex and deep as well, with notes of biscuit, nut, and caramel. With moderate hop bitterness, a deep malt body, and a fruity ale fermentation character, the Samuel Adams Brown Ale satisfies the soul and doesn’t overwhelm the tongue.

Pours a dark ginger brown with a thin off-white head. Smells of brown sugar and caramel malts. Taste is a little light to be considered a really good brown ale, but there are some pleasing sugary notes in there in the form of ginger, brown sugar, caramel. Adequate carbonation. Overall a decent brew, but nothing special.

12oz bottle. Nice looking beer; deep brown with a medium tan head. Honey, caramel, mild roast and unfermented wort aroma. The flavor is sweet caramel with a rather watery finish that has no hops or relative bitterness. Light body with little carbonation. This just needs some bitterness; the sweetness gets a bit overwhelming by the end. That seems to be the theme with Sam’s darker beers. This is my first time revisiting this since i got into better beer, and it seems much more tame and boring than it did in the past. Also, definitely shares a lot of character with the Honey porter, black lager etc.

Pretty good flavor, but too watery and weak. Too light bodied and not creamy enough for a good brown ale. Very drinkable and not too sweet. Light carbonation. Mild honey and caramel sweetness. No hops.

Pours a real dark brown color and a good thick foamy head forms on top. The aroma includes smells of biscuits, nuts and caramel. The flavor is very nutty and very biscuity. Hops are definitely noticeable but not over powering. I thought that this was a rather good brew for Sam Adams. But then I am rarely disappointed by them.

Bottle from the SA variety pack. Good brown ale. Slightly sweet with a nutty, malty backbone. Not very bitter, clean finish.

Pours a reddish bornw color with an off white head. Aroma was really sweet, some roasted malts and nuts. Flasvor was not so much nutty, but really sweet, some hints of honey, and plain malt.
