MartiniFiend (104), Mount Horeb, Wisconsin, USA May 31, 2008 Bottle. Dark amber with almost no head. Light palate. Nice hoppy aroma. Taste starts with a nice hop flavor with a nutty finish. Not a bad beer for the price. jebert (110), Watertown, Wisconsin, USA May 22, 2008 Huge creamy suds cascade over this beautiful tan-brown hued ale. Caramel and nuts aromas waft to the nose. Very creamy on the palate, this well hopped ale is slightly bitter with flavors of burnt malt and hickory. A worthy companion to the other great beers in the Sam Adams stable, this ale pairs well with burgers or brats or try it with a package of beer nuts. vikingguy (138), Chaska, Minnesota, USA May 21, 2008 I enjoy malty, bready beers and this is right up my alley. It has a slightly sweet, nutty aroma and a flavor to match. One of Sam Adam’s best. phishpond417 (1861), Madison, Wisconsin, USA May 19, 2008 Pours a clear dark brown colour with a medium vanilla head. aroma is very pleasent. lightly roasted malts, almonds and slight caramel. Taste is light as well, but creamy and pleasent all the way through. tgncc (796), Bellmore, New York, USA May 16, 2008 Aroma is bready and malty, slightly sweet. Appearance is brown (duh!), and translucent. The flavor is hoppy, some malty sugary sweetness, and a little nutty. Hops dominate. Stinging hop palate.
May 13, 2008 12 ounce bottle- poured out a strong tea color with a tall tan head that lasted the whole glass. Aroma was a great mix of malt and toffee. The caramel laced taste and cream smooth texture of this beer will make it hard to beat. Excellent. ThaBobfather (178), Cincinnati, Ohio, USA May 11, 2008 Much like the Black Lager that came in this mix pack this is weak. I really am not a fan. It has a very average feel to it and is less than the brown ales I’ve had before.
