DJC (238), USA Feb 26, 2008 Reddish-brown body and an off-white head. The head dissipated rather quickly, and there was hardly a lace to mention. Very light in the aroma department, and the same intensity can be found in the flavor. Actually, the aftertaste isn’t too bad, but that’s the beer’s finest quality. Fairly tame carbonation, and an overall watery feel. This isn’t a bad reprsentation of the style, but it isn’t all that good of one, either. LinusStick (1831), Moon Twp, suburb of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, USA Feb 24, 2008 A very sub par brown ale. Aroma was weak. Coffee and chocolate mix that you really have to search for. Pour was a deep brown with a nice lasting one finger tan head. Taste was very weak. Slight nuts and biscuit mixed with caramel malt, but it is not strong enough to shine through the carbonation. Blah. cb23 (97), St. louis, Missouri, USA Feb 22, 2008 Brown pour, obviously. Biscuits and yeast in the nose. The taste was about the same. not a very interesting beer. too watery. Is it just me or do all Sam Adams products have the same underlying taste? epf33 (222), Fairfax, Virginia, USA Feb 22, 2008 draft: interesting story, my friend told me about this beer, said it was his favorite ever, couldn’t find a six pack of it anywhere so we drove about 50 miles to this irish pub we knew that had it on tap, quite a taste, lovely tan head, holds a long time, rich caramel flavor. mcbackus (725), Merritt Island, Florida, USA Feb 15, 2008 bottle: pours a clean ruby brown colour with a large off white head. a sweet aroma of malts, small roast adn nuttiness. flavour sia decent roasted nut with some sweeter malts, just alittle hop bitterness in the finish, not to bad. BlackForestCO (819), Fort Collins, Colorado, USA Feb 15, 2008 Bottle. Pours a deep shade of brown with a 1/4 head that recedes. Aroma of malts, nuts, and a hint of caramel. Semi-sweet malty entry leads into a nutty, slightly bitter finish with hints of caramel. Not too complex, pretty basic, but a solid feel on the palate and good drinkability helps its cause. VitaminR (422), Colorado, USA Feb 14, 2008 Brown sugar nose. Dark caramel color. Was thin and off balance. Too heavily carbonated. Not a good brown, not really a good beer. guyinchicago (516), marengo, Illinois, USA Feb 14, 2008 Updated: Oct 12, 2009not my favorite from sams but i really like this brown, man these guys really know how to brew everything is smooth as silk if you dont fight for your right to drink real beer sams will. bo yha
