oldpainless (35), fort mill, South Carolina, USA Jan 25, 2008 Good solid brown ale. I like low down brown by carolina a bit more but Sam nails the style and it tastes very good. wilkie (1189), Raleigh, North Carolina, USA Jan 21, 2008 Bottle. Pours dark, reddish-brown, medium head, nice lacing. Aroma is nutty, caramel. Flavor similar, with a touch of chocolate. Very drinkable, and a fairly good nut brown. Not to sweet, and not too dry. beerlover420 (10), cincinnati, Ohio, USA Jan 21, 2008 small head deep dark brown. smell of yeast i think.tast of yeast and verry good to drink a few . Little after tast this beer is kind of funny tasting in a good way.try this beer. DTM (541), Winters, California, USA Jan 20, 2008 Poured a dark brown with a nutty aroma. Flavor of nuts with a slight coffee aftertaste. Went down smooth with a slightly bitter finish. timfoolery (482), California, USA Jan 20, 2008 I had this one after the Honey Porter from the sample pack. It had less flavor, but a nice, smooth finish. rugbydude05 (280), Kew Gardens, New York, USA Jan 19, 2008 12 oz. bottle, pours a dark brown color with very little head. Aroma and flavor were very pleasant with strong caramel and coffee flavors. Palate was disappointing with a questionable aftertaste but overall not too bad of a drink. Ambrose (141), East Aurora, New York, USA Jan 17, 2008 getting better. This was better then the last. sample packs are somtimes a good thing. Especially for sam adams. What dyou call me!!!! Gregis (1132), Shawnee, Kansas, USA Jan 16, 2008 Pours a clear mahogany with a loose, creamy, beige head that leaves behind wispy lace. The nose is a nutty, roasted malt front with bready Munich and lightly fruity notes in the mix, as well. Light to medium-bodied with soft yet assertive carbonation and a game-breaking astringent finish. The flavor more-or-less follows the nose, but the astringent finish is a big detractor, as is a dry metallic note that pokes out at the end. This is certainly among the bottom of the pack of Sam Adams brews that I’ve sampled, and I’ve had quite a few.
