Commercial Description:
The Brown Ale is a traditional beer related to the first beers ever brewed commercially. Brewed with an interesting blend of malts, including pale two-row Harrington, Metcalfe, and Maris Otter malt, Caramel, Munich, and roasted Carafa malts, the Brown Ale shines with a deep mahogany luster. The malt flavor is complex and deep as well, with notes of biscuit, nut, and caramel. With moderate hop bitterness, a deep malt body, and a fruity ale fermentation character, the Samuel Adams Brown Ale satisfies the soul and doesn’t overwhelm the tongue.

12 oz bottle. Much like many other Sam Adams bottles this one had neither aroma nor flavor. It seems that if you serve Sam just one degree too cold all the aroma and flavor pull a Kaiser Soze and simply vanish. How about a little flavor or aroma next time Jim??

Another mediocre Sam Adams brew, pours a dark brown but tastes much like water, very little flavor and aroma. Ehh

12 oz, bb Feb 08. Clear, dark copper-brown with a medium-large head that lasts well and leaves nice lace. Molasses, biscuit, and dry grain aroma. Spicy grain, slight caramel, sour fruit, and peppery hops. Light-medium body is fairly smooth, has some tongue tingle, and finishes slightly chalky-dry.

Pours out a nice reddish color with a white head that leaves some decent lacing and holds up pretty well, looks more like a red than a brown. Smell is of brown sugar and hazelnut, maybe a hint of earthy hops, but not really noticeable. Taste is much of the same. Starts out with some brown sugar and maybe molasses, and then gets nuttier and nuttier through the finish. Seems pretty highly carbonated, all sorts of bubbles exploding on the tongue paired with a medium body. Pretty easy to drink, but I don’t know that I’d visit this one that often. Decent beer, worthy of a try, but nothing to shout about either.

Appearance is impressive for a Sam Adams, it’s head is thick and creamy and doesn’t completely dissapate, the lacing is very sticky. The color is ruby red when held up to the light. The smell is sour and malty, there isn’t any sweetness at all. The taste is a little off, almost like a lager kind of sour. Mouthfeel is a notch above water, not bad, not good. I don’t think I’ll ever drink this one again.

Pours a brown color with a tan head. Aroma is of roasted malts, coffee, caramel, toasted malts, and some slight dark fruits. Flavor is slightly creamy with strong roasted and toasted malts. Finishes slightly bitter and dry. Not my favorite from Sam Adams but not that bad.

0.33L bottle. beautifull deep dark brown colour. Strong aromas of roasted malt. Taste of roasted coffee and burnt sugar. Aftertaste short and bitter. A one dimensional beer.

Pours dark brown with a one finger white head that dissaptes to a film. Nose of piney hops and caramel. Flavours of caramel, malt, hops. Medium body with dry finish. Nothing spectacular, but enjoyable.
