Drjohnrock (95), Cincinnati, Ohio, USA Dec 1, 2007 Twelve ounce bottle from Biggs. Medium brown/amber color, sweet nutty aroma, off white head with good lacing, light bittersweet flavor. Better than I remembered from past tastings but of the two brown ales I had on Thanksgiving which just passed, the Brooklyn Browm Ale definitely beats this one. naplesbeerfan (17), Naples, Florida, USA Nov 26, 2007 The aroma was nice for this beer. Sweet, nutty smell. Clean pour with mild brown tone and thin head. Smooth caramel taste, but very short of being great. grandet (477), Scranton, Pennsylvania, USA Nov 25, 2007 Copying from my tasting notes. Bottle. unimpressive, nothing about it stood out. but still wasnt "bad" JRHBrew (217), Fredericton, New Brunswick, Canada Nov 23, 2007 So far the first Sam Adams brew to completely lack ’inspiration’ or oomph. Dissappointing. ChainGangGuy (2523), Kennesaw, Georgia, USA Nov 22, 2007 Appearance: Pours a light brown body with a small, fizzy off-white head.
Smell: Toasted malt aroma with a good measure of nuttiness. Light scent of floral hops.
Taste: Malt flavors of caramel, toasted nuts, a hint of molasses blend together with a mild sweetness. Hint of biscuits. English hops and a soft bitterness help to provide balance. Finishes both dry and crisp.
Mouthfeel: Medium-bodied. Moderate carbonation.
Drinkability: Not bad! I could easily down a couple more of these. clasley (153), Arkansas, USA Nov 21, 2007 355 ml bottle. Pours a nice dark mahogany with a dense tan head. Malty nose with a slight touch of biscuit. Medium body with an up-front malt presence. Hints of toffee with a slightly nutty edge. Nice lingering semi-sweet finish. JamesD (192), Centreville, Virginia, USA Nov 20, 2007 I really like this beer, though brown ales seem to not be that popular in general. It’s smooth and malty, not a brewing masterpiece, but very drinkable and not lacking in flavor. I still buy this from time to time. Sassenach (59), USA Nov 18, 2007 Cloudy brown and red is the pour. Minimal tan-ish/yellow head. Smells of caramel cream, and slightly roasted honey oat bread malts. Tastes of light roasted caramel, crisp hops, and almost a nutty almond undertone. Has a refreshing drinkability to it.
