Commercial Description:
The Brown Ale is a traditional beer related to the first beers ever brewed commercially. Brewed with an interesting blend of malts, including pale two-row Harrington, Metcalfe, and Maris Otter malt, Caramel, Munich, and roasted Carafa malts, the Brown Ale shines with a deep mahogany luster. The malt flavor is complex and deep as well, with notes of biscuit, nut, and caramel. With moderate hop bitterness, a deep malt body, and a fruity ale fermentation character, the Samuel Adams Brown Ale satisfies the soul and doesn’t overwhelm the tongue.

Smells of caramel and bitter hops. Pours a deep dark brown, almost looks black. Taste is light and sparkling with notes of bitter caramel. Different than the brown ales I’ve tried, but very good all the same.

Bottle. Good brown color with thin white head. Light aroma. Nutty, roasted malt flavor. Pretty overall mild brown ale.

Bottle with an expiration date of Dec 07. Nice brown pour. No hints of red or chocolate like others...just plain old brown, with a creamy tan head. Malts are noted. So are nuts. Smooth in the mouth and mild overall. A very nice brown ale and one that I would have again.

Clear copper with a chunky beige head that laces its way down the glass. Initially bready aroma, more caramel as it warms, but really quite muted. Straightforward caramel palate, slightly metallic finish. Remarkably smooth mouthfeel though. Pretty unremarkable really.

Pours a dark brown with reddish highlights and a nice soapy tan head. Aroma is a nice sweet malt. Brown ales are full of sweet simplicity and this one follows suit. Caramel, coffee, toffee and bread can be tasted. A nice brown.

pours a caramel brown with a nice two finger fluffy off white head. aroma is toasted caramel malt with a little citrus hos mixed in. has a light to medium body with good lacing and carbonation. flavor is the same as aroma with a little biscuit. has a little spiciness on the tongue, but is a bit thin. not bad.
