fro2218 (466), Atlanta, Georgia, USA Sep 28, 2007 Dark orange in color. Tan head. Sweet roasted smell. Sweet malt flavor with caramel low hoppy flavor and bitterness. JPDIPSO (4865), Wauwatosa, Wisconsin, USA Sep 24, 2007 Clear bright umber color with a tall fluffy light khaki head. Sweet toasted marshmallow scents along with a bit of white bread toast. LIght dry caramel flavors. Some whole grain toast and nuts also in the flavors. Light bitterness and touch of acidity in the finish and linger. Somewhat tinny. Once again I am underwhelmed by a brown ale. Bcoble003 (100), Dalton, Ohio, USA Sep 23, 2007 very weak aroma very yummy taste veryimpressed with samuel adams beers yum! Kirill (264), Durham, North Carolina, USA Sep 17, 2007 brown with big light head, fruity hops but pretty weak aroma... lots of nice malts come through and then some hops in the finish, taste much better than i expected judging by the smell.. creamy but sparkling texture RSRIZZO (1346), Colorado Springs, Colorado, USA Sep 17, 2007 Had this beer on 3/9/2006. Aroma is a mild malt scent. Color is a bright brown with good carbonation and a tight head. Taste is light, malty and crisp. Starting with a light/medium body it goes down with a crisp feel and a malt flavor come on. Finish then builds on this flavor to a mild sweetness that is backed by a fair bitterness. It is a well balanced, easy drinking beer, but it seems to need something. AMN (127), Dublin, Pennsylvania, USA Sep 16, 2007 Mild, comfort food, if you will. There’s nothing special about it, yet I really liked it for some reason. BelgianBeerGal (1277), Sabbatical in Las Vegas, Nevada, USA Sep 15, 2007 Bottled. Pours dark brown with a creamy, tan head and follows with decent lacing. Easy drinking brown ale with nutty, carmel flavors. Nice but nothing amazing. sethdude (600), St. Louis, Missouri, USA Sep 14, 2007 Pours rootbeer brown with a large, dual head. The lower part of the head is darker than the upper part, with a defined line between the two. Aroma is predominently hoppy, brown sugar/ molasses undertones. Flavor begins with lots of toffee, but quickly becomes tarnished penny flavor. Ugh. After the metallic note, burned toast and sweet dark chocolate come in. Definitely some toffee in there as well. Tone back the carbonation, acidity, and that metallic flavor, and this would be a nice beer. Until then, it jsut seems unfinished.
