SmellGood (314), Memphis, Tennessee, USA Sep 10, 2007 Sweet caramel aroma arises from this brown ale. You can taste the malts and roastiness as this slightly overcarbonated bear slides down my throat. mmmbeer (737), Austin, Texas, USA Sep 9, 2007 Updated: Feb 4, 2008A nice roasted nut smell as soon as I opened the botte. Picture perfect head formed and LASTED for over 10 minutes when poured into mug. Nut taste from start to finish. Underrated ale from Sam Adams. Those that don’t like it drink BEER-PAGNE, go figure... ndfreak77 (76), USA Sep 8, 2007 I liked this beer very much. Pours a dark brown and has a sweet caremel aroma. Sweet with a caremal flavor. Low carbonation and good aftertaste. BigMilly8 (374), Holiday, Florida, USA Sep 7, 2007 Updated: Sep 8, 2007From bottle : Pours a nice dark beautiful brown color with offwhite head. A sweet roasted caramel aroma. There is a little bit of carbonation. A nice medium body, It feels smooth on your tounge. Very nice malt flavor with touches of caramel, and slightly sweet. Finishs nice, with good aftertaste. Would recommend. MadMan (497), Tempe, Arizona, USA Sep 4, 2007 Bottle. Pours dark brown with diminishing tan head. Aroma is pretty weak, with hints of malt, caramel. Flavor is malty, with notes of burnt toast, caramel, biscuit, dough. Moderately sweet and lightly bitter with some light pine nut. Light to medium in body, light in carbonation, overall a little bland. I’m not a fan of this one. jpm30 (1588), East Central, Georgia, USA Sep 2, 2007 12 oz. bottle, short blurb on the neck label, freshness date along the left side of front label, sampled in a pint glass.
Poured a clear reddish brown with a large rocky pale tan head, slowly dissipated into a thin creamy lacing, small amount of laced sticking.
Sweet toasted caramel malty aroma, hints of roasted nuts, light whiffs of earthy, floral leafy hops.
Creamy medium body, a smooth crispness with a dry finish. Sweet malty taste, toasted caramel, sugary, dry biscuits and a light roasted nuttiness. A nice, softly bitter hoppiness, orangey citric notes, earthy leafiness, ending in a salty spiciness.
An quite quaffable brown ale from BBC, smooth, balanced taste, I could easily drink a six of this over the course of an evening, very enjoyable.
jfenglish (198), Chicago, Illinois, USA Sep 2, 2007 12 oz bottle. Not much aroma or head, but good bitterness and nutty flavor. Waters out a bit at the end though, needs more body. rodneykm (109), Westminster, South Carolina, USA Sep 2, 2007 Updated: Sep 30, 2007RERATED: I tried this beer a few months after I initially tried it. At first...hated it...but now - love it. Just enough bite mixed w/ good malty flavor. Highly enjoyed.
