CasperQuaffer (142), Casper, Wyoming, USA Aug 25, 2007 Pours late autumn leaf brown, with a medium length head. Aroma is brown sugar sweet with a hint of garden herbs. Has a full tongue feel and a pleasing flavor with good hop balance. Goes down smoothly, but a little of a sweet aftertaste. dchmela (1411), Orlando, Florida, USA Aug 24, 2007 Nice dark copper pour with tight white head. Slight toasted bread aroma with a touch of hops. Taste is smooth and balanced with a hint of malt and hops. Good easy drinking beer. McGarnigle (303), Rochester, New York, USA Aug 23, 2007 Bottle from mixed six pack. Brown color with slightly beige head. Smells a bit like caramel to me. The initial taste is somewhat sweet, but the finish is dry and roasty, maybe of burnt nuts. I’m not sure if it comes together. I do like the body, which is medium with good carbonation. JamesMulvenon (21), USA Aug 23, 2007 Updated: Jul 15, 2008Drank this beer in Maui in August 2007. Deep ruby red color. Strong toffy flavors with a very full palate. Different than brown sugar or chocolate brown ales. Strong kick, when combined with the strong flavor, make it a "first beer" of the night rather than a session beer. jalichio999 (502), Brazil Aug 23, 2007 Bottle. Reddish coloration, with a beige head. Notes of coffee and toasted malt. Lightly dry palate. Average carbonation. colts9016 (198), Idaho, USA Aug 20, 2007 A deep mahogany color with hints of red. There is a small head that disapates. The aroma is toasted malt. Molasses, and slight hint of a sweet smell other than the molasses. Taste of toasted caramel malt A touch of molasses, slightly hoppy a touch bitter on the palate. The finish doesn’t last. Not to bad of a beer bhensonb (4189), Woodland, California, USA Aug 20, 2007 12 oz. bottle. Caramel malt aroma with hints of fruity ester? Dark reddish amber color with a white head that filmed and ringed. Thin bodied. Mild carbonation. Bread, caramel and nut. Very little bitter follows. Thin enough to be thirst quenching. The finish is mild malt, with a very slight touch of bitter. It’s really quite refreshing in the late hours. Probably not in the heat of a California summer day. It’s going extremely well with smoked herring. Hammster (187), Eagan, Minnesota, USA Aug 18, 2007 Bottle. Decent head. Nice dark burgandy brown color & a pleasant sweet aroma. Some nutty and caramel taste although it was disappointingly bland. The aftertaste was unflattering and more tart than sweet. Would not buy if I was looking for a brown ale.
