Acknud (770), Morganfield, Kentucky, USA Aug 2, 2007 Not my favorite Sam Adams. Pours a pretty brown with a light amber head. Lively carbonation with a burnt malt finish riversideAK (2648), Shoreline, Washington, USA Aug 1, 2007 Got a sweet chocolate malt aroma. Poured light brown with red undertones. Flavor is Newcastle, but a little bit more lively carbonation and a little more bitter and roasty in the finish. Rather light and easy to drink.A tad bit more enjoyable than the Boston Lager. Cybercat (778), Georgia, USA Jul 27, 2007 Aroma is rich and malty, with strong undertone of molasses and a nip of salt. It pours a nice transparent brown, a rather pretty color. Flavor is strongly malty, some hop hints and a little sweetness, just a touch of bitterness and a little smokiness. It feels a little thin, but is still a very enjoyable ale. CheersMate1 (768), Atlanta, Georgia, USA Jul 27, 2007 This beer has a decent roasted caramel smell. I smell some nut fllavor, but it is very subtle. The smell is not to my lliking it is not that interesting. The beer doesn’t look bad; dark caramel brown beer, with smell loose head. The beer has an interesting taste. The beer has a decent sweet roasted flavor to it. The beer is very thin and it lacks the body that a great ale should have. Other than the semi-sweet notes, and the roasted flavor this beer is simply mediocre. emobassfoo (178), Webster, New York, USA Jul 26, 2007 Pours a color somewhere between 3/5 red and 2/5 brown. A fluffy white head lays on top. Nice lacing too. Smells tasty. Like baked goods! Makes me want to bite into glass like its some sort of chocolate-filled candy. Taste is a little weaker than i expected but retains more of that pastry malty aroma. Clean and crisp on the tongue, and very drinkable. Good brew! Codythegreat (133), Carrollton, Georgia, USA Jul 25, 2007 Pours a dark brown with a white head. pretty good caramel and nutty taste and very drinkable. It has a caramel aroma. I drank this out of a dimpled mug. probstk (1006), Nepean, Ontario, Canada Jul 20, 2007 12 oz. bottle via Lubiere, served cool in a tulip glass.
App.: Deep amber/brownish-copper, clear, fairly substantial foamy light tan head.
Aroma: Light caramel, light roasted malts, some nuttiness, a hard-to-describe funky bread crust smell, maybe a hint of metallic defect;
Palate: Medium-light body, medium-low carbonation.
Flav.: Fairly nutty, light woodiness and alcohol, some light roasted malt/coffee and a touch of caramel; just sl. off-dry with a touch of bitterness.
Not the best stuff they brew. 00cobraR (1096), Greensboro, North Carolina, USA Jul 18, 2007 Pours out a clear brown color with a nice beige froathy head. aroma is rather malty and caramel. Flavor is very much the same with a nice lasting after taste. I enjoyed this beer.
