App.: Deep amber/brownish-copper, clear, fairly substantial foamy light tan head.
Aroma: Light caramel, light roasted malts, some nuttiness, a hard-to-describe funky bread crust smell, maybe a hint of metallic defect;
Palate: Medium-light body, medium-low carbonation.
Flav.: Fairly nutty, light woodiness and alcohol, some light roasted malt/coffee and a touch of caramel; just sl. off-dry with a touch of bitterness.
Not the best stuff they brew. 00cobraR (1098), Greensboro, North Carolina, USA

Flavor is very much the same with a nice lasting after taste. I enjoyed this beer. jkoch (41), USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Jul 13, 2007 12 ounce bottle. Pours a miiddle brown with abit of a head that doesn’t last long. The aroma and taste are nut and caramel. Sligh hop bitterness at the end, nicely balanced. Mouthfeel is nice. Goes down easy. Overall I like this beer a lot. Very smooth. CAVEAT: it’s important NOT to drink this beer too cold. The typical American (of which I’m one) tendency to chill beers to tastelessness will kill this beer. Cellar temperature for this beer is perfect. Good start, good finish. It’s well balanced between slightly sweet malt, of which there is plenty, and the bitterness of hops. Good body, creamy head, this may not be an exceptional brown ale but it is one of the best American brown ales to be found. It’s delicious. Fevernova (44), Ohio, USA
| 2.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 9/20 | Jul 12, 2007 Bottle -- Medium clear brown with a thin head. Good aroma but lacks the flavors to back it up. Not my favorite of the Samuel Adams selection. republican1027 (8), USA does not count | 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 5/5 | 7/10 | 5/5 | 14/20 | Jul 12, 2007 Though brown ales aren’t my favorite, this one is very good. Probably would go for a New Castle first, but this is still an excellent choice. T3llLAllDE (82), USA
