pojo41 (315), Hattiesburg, Mississippi, USA Jul 3, 2007 Bottle. Nice medium brown color with a small offwhite head. Aroma of sweet, roasted dark malt. Flavor of dough and malt. Just the slightest hint of hops. Medium mouthfeel. I think Sam Adams makes some pretty decent dark beers. This one is pretty good too. djd07 (724), Houston, Texas, USA Jul 1, 2007 Bottle. Brewmasters collection. Pours a dark brown color with a medium light tan head. The aroma was roasted malt with hints of coffee. The taste was watery malt but still a good brew. Glazed9884 (207), USA Jul 1, 2007 xxx a pretty good brew, not the best from samuel adams but still plenty worthwhile,. thenick (742), North Bellmore, New York, USA Jun 28, 2007 Pours a decent brown color with a tannish head. The aroma is slightly malty and the flavor is malty with some chocolate notes and a slight metallic taste. Solid brown ale, nothing otherworldly. yespr (11649), Copenhagen O, Denmark Jun 27, 2007 12 oz bottle. Pours nut brown with a light brown head. Caramel malty aroma. Flavour is also caramel malty, very soft and mild. Mild dry finish. Ok but nothing big. 184601 (143), Mexicali, Mexico Jun 26, 2007 Pours a dark to red colour with a caramel-like colour top, aroma remiscent to caramel, great palate sweet and nutty. I FUCKING LOVE IT!!
This one’s too good to be a mainstream beer. Quake1028 (633), Tampa, Florida, USA Jun 25, 2007 12oz bottle courtesy of Degarth. Thanks Joe. Pours a brown body with ruby red highlights and a 1.5 finger creamy off white head. Superb head retention and nice sheets of lacing. Good looking brew. Aromas of nutty malts, floral hops, caramel and bread dough. Fore of the tongue is sweet malts, dough, nuts and fruit notes. Back of the tongue holds hop spice, caramel and malts. Medium to heavy astringency on the tongue. Palate is thin to medium bodied. Finish is of medium length. Bitterness from the hops gives way to a sweet toasted note from the malts and nuts. Decent brew. Eckato (89), St. Petersburg, Florida, USA Jun 25, 2007 Pours with moderate white/amber head. Color is reddish brown with no carbonation. The aroma is carmel and toasting...faint but inviting. Taste left a lot to be desired. Ordinary taste with a rich color.
