Commercial Description:
The Brown Ale is a traditional beer related to the first beers ever brewed commercially. Brewed with an interesting blend of malts, including pale two-row Harrington, Metcalfe, and Maris Otter malt, Caramel, Munich, and roasted Carafa malts, the Brown Ale shines with a deep mahogany luster. The malt flavor is complex and deep as well, with notes of biscuit, nut, and caramel. With moderate hop bitterness, a deep malt body, and a fruity ale fermentation character, the Samuel Adams Brown Ale satisfies the soul and doesn’t overwhelm the tongue.

in a word i would say average. nothing bad, nothing exciting. There is nothing wrong with this perticular beer, but as i’m trying all the Sam Adams beers, there are so many others i enjoyed better.

Fairly thin nose, more reminiscent of a lager than an ale - especially from a style that’s usually pretty aromatic. Palate is quite fizzy, taste is somewhat nutty, and thin as well. Slightly dry & bitter finish. Not horrible, but they could do better.

Slight maly nutty aroma that fades quickly. Darkish amber color with no head. Light malt flavor with moderate apple/yeast middle. Finishes sticky and chewy. Lingering thick feeling in my mouth.

Pours a clear dark brown with a tan foamy head. Aroma is nutty, malty roasty. Taste is a bit bitter and weak. Nutty.

Clear deep copper pour with a small quickly fading white head. Nutty and bready malt aroma, hints of roasted malt, pear and brown sugar. Nutty malt flavor, some light fruit, a little soapy quality, some mild hop bitterness lending to a crisp finish. Thin body. A fairly average beer, not something I would probably ever seek out again, but I would drink this over macro.

12oz - Clear brown liquid under nice tan head. Smoky molasses notes on nose. Roasted malts on palate with little depth. Eeh.
