Commercial Description:
The Brown Ale is a traditional beer related to the first beers ever brewed commercially. Brewed with an interesting blend of malts, including pale two-row Harrington, Metcalfe, and Maris Otter malt, Caramel, Munich, and roasted Carafa malts, the Brown Ale shines with a deep mahogany luster. The malt flavor is complex and deep as well, with notes of biscuit, nut, and caramel. With moderate hop bitterness, a deep malt body, and a fruity ale fermentation character, the Samuel Adams Brown Ale satisfies the soul and doesn’t overwhelm the tongue.

Looks pretty good, modest head. Aroma was hints of caramel, nuts and a toastiness which came out in the flavor as well. The finish was a bit harsh and earthy.Glad mine was free.

A nice rich brown color with an off white head. The aroma is malty sweet. The taste is a nice full bodied malt taste but with a strange bitter after taste. The finish tasted a little off to me.

This has a nice look to it, and it was refreshing. In terms of refreshment, this is good, but nothing terribly special or creative.

Fairly nice, relatively full aroma. Appearance is brown with decent head which lingers. Flavor is faint roasted malts, fairly sweet with a mild bitterness. Not bad but nothing incredible, makes for a decent session beer.

Disappointing for a Sam Adams brew. A good smell, but that’s about all it had going for it. The flavor was too harsh, and the after taste was quite bitter. I tried hard to enjoy it, but I just couldn’t do it.

Bought this in a six-pack the other day. Tasted from a pint glass. Pours smoothly, with an even, two-finger head that reduces by about three-quarters half-way through the drink. Aroma is woodsy, with light caramel note, robust. Taste is quite nutty, slightly bready, mildly bitter, hints of fruit. Finishes clean, with no lack or sudden increase of flavor. Overall, not bad...flavorful beer without being too filling.
