BroSpud (583), , Massachusetts, USA Feb 13, 2009 I’m a huge fan of Sam’s Lager and also their strong specialty offerings. The multitudes of other beers they offer don’t excite me all that much. webbcreative (111), , Oklahoma, USA Feb 11, 2009
Pours reddish brown in color. Formed a 2 finger head that hung around for a little while. Pick up a little malt on the nose, as well as some nuttiness. Mouthfeel is medium. Tastes a bit nutty, get a touch of bitterness from the hops, very little malt sweetness though, but enough I guess to where its not real bitter.
This is an okay brew, nothing outstanding about it. A solid effort, but i wouldnt search it out.578 Cavie (1317), Fort Worth, Texas, USA Feb 6, 2009 Has an odd aroma and a slightly nutty flavor, and hinted at caramel. VERY attractive on the pour. Color and head are both quite rich. This is quite possibly the prettiest beer I have ever seen. mcjay (301), Neenah, Wisconsin, USA Jan 31, 2009 Brownish amber color with a thin white head. Light roasted aroma with a hint of caramel. Maltly mouth feel with a bit of hop bitterness. Has a mild nutty flavor with a hint of caramel. ant880 (39), Brooklyn, New York, USA Jan 19, 2009 Not a great brown ale but not the worst either. Body is brown and fairly smooth. Decent maltiness and hops. Barrios (852), Nashville, Tennessee, USA Jan 19, 2009 12oz bottle. Pours a light tan head with a ruby brown body. Smells of brown sugar and bread. Tastes the same. Balanced all around with a good finish. kopher (294), New York, USA Jan 14, 2009 pours a clear orange brown, a bit of whispy white head
aroma is mostly roasted malt and sweetness
flavor is similar, though a bit more (and too) subtle
hops are not easy to find, but maybe some in the finish as the beer warms up
nice body for a brown ale though unclemike (834), Ft. Riley, Kansas, USA Jan 9, 2009 Pours a dark, rosy brown with a thick, tan head. Good, pronounced aroma of caramel and a bit of citrus. Thick mouthfeel. Flavor is rather creamy with notes of (again) caramel and cream. Good bit of hops on the end. Pretty decent stuff
