The Brown Ale is a traditional beer related to the first beers ever brewed commercially. Brewed with an interesting blend of malts, including pale two-row Harrington, Metcalfe, and Maris Otter malt, Caramel, Munich, and roasted Carafa malts, the Brown Ale shines with a deep mahogany luster. The malt flavor is complex and deep as well, with notes of biscuit, nut, and caramel. With moderate hop bitterness, a deep malt body, and a fruity ale fermentation character, the Samuel Adams Brown Ale satisfies the soul and doesnít overwhelm the tongue.

(Bottle 35,5 cl) Pours a clear, orangey brown with a small, off-white head. Caramelish aroma. Medium-bodied, lightly burned caramel flavours and a rather dry finish. No great Brown Ale. 060706

12 oz. bottle. Caramel malt aroma with hints of fruity ester? Dark reddish amber color with a white head that filmed and ringed. Thin bodied. Mild carbonation. Bread, caramel and nut. Very little bitter follows. Thin enough to be thirst quenching. The finish is mild malt, with a very slight touch of bitter. Itís really quite refreshing in the late hours. Probably not in the heat of a California summer day. Itís going extremely well with smoked herring.

Bottle from Party Source. Poured a clear dark brown color with a moderate frothy off-white head that was mostly lasting with good lacing. Medium toasted nutty malty aroma. Medium body. Medium bittersweet flavor with a medium bittersweet finish of moderate duration. I would recommend this to a freind as the first choice of domestic production brews.

A dark clear brown ale with a thick lacing moka head, quite striking. A noted chocolate milk aroma, very sweet and pleasant. In mouth, a crisp malt with light metallic hopping in attack, finishing quite rapidly, followed by some mellow nut/roasted coffee in finale. A decent brown. Body is a bit thin, but overall well balanced.
