vikingguy (51), Chaska, Minnesota, USA May 21, 2008 I enjoy malty, bready beers and this is right up my alley. It has a slightly sweet, nutty aroma and a flavor to match. One of Sam Adam’s best.
zach8270 (1421), Henrietta, New York, USA Oct 6, 2008 (bottle - 12 oz) Nut brown color with a puffy tan head. Aroma is nutty and malty with some light sweet hints along with a touch of hop bitterness and some biscuit. Flavor is malty at the beginning with a light nutty note, a bready middle, and a watery and lightly bitter finish. A bit watery. illidurit (431), Santa Cruz, California, USA Oct 6, 2008 12 oz bottle poured into a pint glass. Pours a dark mahogany with bright blood red highlights. Light tan head that displays typically average lace and retention. Sweet, simple aroma of toasted bread, toffee, and nuts. Rather weak flavor, tastes like malt flavored perrier. Nondescript brown maltiness with little complexity or hoppiness. Body is thin and watery. A pretty crummy attempt at the style. MaltDawg (369), Richmond, Virginia, USA Oct 5, 2008 Date: 10/5/2008 Source:Food Lion Caramel with some nuttiness and American hops. Clear amber brown with frothy tan head. Carmel and slightly nutty with low hop bitterness . Medium body and mouth feel. Clean dry finish with little hop bitterness. Nice solid brown ale. borgination (78), Lee, Massachusetts, USA Oct 5, 2008 Bottle. Nice walnut color with fizzy head that fades quickly. Nice nutty, toasty malt aroma with a bit of spiced bread. Medium bodied with a nice creamy mouthfeel and a tingle of carbonation. A really decent brown ale. UriahHeep (38), Georgia, USA Oct 2, 2008 One of the sweeter Sam Adams beers. Medium bodied, aromatic and malty. Caramelly, nutty. Low on hoppiness. Overall this isn’t too distinctive but it gets the job done. I’d rather drink a Newcastle though.
