tagz (307), USA Dec 30, 2007 bottle. pours red brown with two finger off white head. aroma is light roasted malts. flavor brings in molasses with some elements wood and nuts. very smooth going down. flavors and aroma are well defined but not overpowering. decent.
Necron99 (16), Clermont, Florida, USA Aug 29, 2008 Sweet aroma, pours brown with a tan head. Tastes like malt with a slight sweet and hop flavor, little watery. Finishes with a slight thin bitter taste. Not a terrible beer, but tastes very similar to SA Boston Lager without the grassy taste. Probably won’t buy this again. lithy (127), Knoxville, Tennessee, USA Aug 25, 2008 Nice deep purply brown with a two finger light tan head, recedes quickly. Good sweet aromas, sweet cinnamon breads but no noticeable hops. Flavors are sweet, caramel and even slight plumminess or some dark fruit. Body is tingly on the tongue, the refreshing carbonation borders on overdoing it but helps make this beer finish easily. Unfortunately with no noticeable hops in the finish it is sweet all the way through. bretupdegraff (52), , Indiana, USA Aug 22, 2008 kindof boring. Better than most grocery store beers. I expected something more (nut?). Tasted like Sam Adams to me NomDeBeer (143), Baltimore, Maryland, USA Aug 11, 2008 I drank this back to back with their Honey Porter - they looked identical; same tawny brown color and thin, spritzy off-white head. Both smelled of biscuit and faint chocolate. Both were thinner than expected. They tasted a bit different, but it was a marginal difference. It furthers my theory that Sam Adams really only makes 3 beers but packages them under different names and labels. 21 award winning styles my ass. jkwalking05 (171), Arlington, Texas, USA Jul 26, 2008 Light brown color and thick head entice. There is a sweet malty aroma. The taste is less flavorful than expected but still has a malty tones with hints of hops at the back of the throat.
