3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Pours a dark brown - held up to the light there is a reddish hue, like a Dr Pepper. Nose is a cherry explosion...I liked it, but was worried this would taste artificial and overly sweet like the Sam Adams Cherry Wheat. That wasn't the case...yes, the cherry taste is strongly present, but it is nicely balanced by the chocolate and roasted malt. A good dessert beer.

3 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Pours dark brown with a beige head. Head dissipates quickly to a very thin lace. Aromas of milk chocolate and cherry. Upfront flavors of cherries, cola, and chocolate. Finishes with sweet chocolate, raisin, and a touch of licorice. The flavors are subtle; not overpowering at all. No discernible hop presence whatsoever. Mouthfeel begins a bit peppery, but finishes creamy. This is a pretty nice beer, but like most Sam Adams’s brews, it’s just not as good as other beers out there. Not bad, but not exceptional.

Pours a dark brown reddish color with a small ring of a head. Notes of tootsie rolls, cherry cordials, and burnt bread. Pretty straight forward.

Really unusual beer. Dark colour with hardly any head - could be a glass of coke! Smells like cherries. Initial taste of cherries with a light fizz, then fizz disappears and left with a very smooth chocolatey aftertaste, just like eating a sweet! (K)

2.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 9/20
Thin, brown head thats short lived. Black with faint red edging. Nose of cherries and some interesting grainy notes. Medium bodied, lil oily with a soft carbonation. Sweet, cherry and chocolate flavors that arent combining too awful well, kiddy juice. Not one i would return too. Bottle from statelineliquors.

12 oz bottle from the winter variety pack. Aroma is maraschino cherries, chocolate, roasted malt. Pours dark brown with red highlights and a one finger beige head that falls fairly fast. Taste is sweet with a little bitterness in the finish. Along with the chocolate and cherries, I get toasted marshmallow, licorice, caramel. Mouthfeel is creamy, body medium. Dessert in a glass.

Location/Date:Bottle on 1/3/2014.
Appearance:Pours a dark brown black.
Aroma: Aroma of maraschino cherry.
Taste: Medium chocolate, then the maraschino cherry flavor. Sugary sweet.
Palate:Medium light body.
Summary: The sugary sweetness of the cherries really makes this hard for me to enjoy.

12/29/2013: Samuel Adams Cherry Chocolate Bock Special Release... Aroma and flavor are overwhelmingly cherry medice at first, but as the beer has a chance to breathe a bit, it also improves. The cherry mellows out to a dark cherry and becomes way less medicinal and the soft cocoa nibs and Tootsie Roll-like milk chocolate is more evident. I particularly like the molasses and smoky caramel characteristics in the finish. I liked the old Chocolate Bock and enjoy this beer for the most part as well, although the cherry might be a bit too much at times. Drinks a bit like a chocolate covered liqueur-filled cherry! The moderate level of alcohol is nice, but this one doesn’t necessarily go down too quickly since it seems to have a thicker body to it. The deep, chocolate brown color with a reddish tint and dense, ivory-colored head are nice too. Overall, this is a solid brew that is quite appropriate for the holiday season. 12 fl. oz. bottle (5.8% ALC/VOL; Enjoy Before MAY14) from Jungle Jim’s International Market in Fairfield, Ohio. Rating #263 for this beer.
