This special release is brewed just for the holidays. For a new approach to a classic favorite, we added cherries to our traditional Chocolate Bock for a sweet, slightly tart note. Aged on a bed of dark cocoa nibs, the malty, chocolaty, and dark fruit flavors create a rich, complex beer perfect for winter. Cheers!

Bottled. Poured clear, deep reddish-brown with a creamy beige head. The aroma picked up sweeter cherries and cocoa over darker chocolates and a little molasses.. really smelled like chocolate-covered cherries. The flavor found sweeter cocoa and cherries at the core with dry, toasted chocolates and lightly-tart cherry skins around.. finished with more chocolate-covered cherries. Medium-bodied with creamy-ish carbonation on the palate.. sweeter than I wanted, but it felt good.

"Bottled for 2013. Yay!! Iíve long been a huge fan of chocolate bock, even when it was in big overpriced bottles. This could have gone so wrong. Cherry flavor can end up medicinal, but they really nail the cherry in this, especially in the nose. Slightly tart and complex and nearly perfectly balanced. The flavor is a little sweeter. A lesson in decadence from a 5.8% beer. Like German chocolate cake spiked with tart and sweet cherries. LOVE this. Wish I could get just this instead of the mixer :) Aroma 9.5, flavor 8.5."

Draft. Pours near black with a beige head. Sweet cherry candy aroma with light chocolate. The flavor is like one of those fake cherry filled chocolates. Completely a gimmick beer. I recognize that this isnít technically a "good beer", but damn it if I didnít really like it for some reason. Maybe I was just in the holiday spirit, but it really rubbed me the right way.

11/11/13. Happy Veterans Day and Happy Birthday, Chris! Initiating turbo boosters early today. Basically our weekend. Letís DO THIS! 12oz bottle from the new Winter Mix Pack... stoked for 2 new ticks. The chocolate bock was always solid back in the day, so figured Iíd give this one a go. Brown pour, more or less, with some reddish hues, all under a nice khaki head that fades to a film and a ring and laces okay. Big cherry aroma, distinctly fruity, seems like a flavoring in a way because it reminds me of cherry candy as opposed to cherries themselves. There also some dark chocolate and maltiness. Less cherry in the flavor, but still there for sure, again candy-like in a way, and slightly tart. The malt and chocolate shines through more in the flavor, rich, dark chocolate, bready, creamy, and smooth. Tasty enough.

Bottle that a friend was happy to offload on to me. Near black with no head and plenty of fizz. Sweet and quite heavy with plenty of black cherry and milk chocolate, before a relatively gentle finish. Not a session beer by any means, but ok as a one-off.

Bottle:   Cherry comes across as a bit of cough syrup.   Otherwise its like a cherry tootsie roll from start to finish.   Perhaps a lot like that knock-off cherry soda from those weird grocery store brands.   Otherwise a bit of carob.   This one was way too artificial.   Just didnít work for me.

Trade with Aurelius - thanks! Dark brown pour, thin khaki colored head. Aroma of chocolate covered cherries, a hint of potting soil. Flavor is sweet with some nice cherry accents, some milk chocolate goodness, a touch of red licorice in the back end. Mouthfeel is thick enough. Enjoyable in small doses. Could get cloying in large doses.

Bottle. Pours a dark brown and medium creamy off white head that diminshes quickly. The aroma is cherry and cocoa. Thin mouthfeel with rich chocolate and cherry flavor. Good.
