Very smooth and drinkable...Slight hint of cherry with chocolate overtones...The color is dark and opaque with very little light through the glass when held up...Basically desert in a glass. I love it !!! I wish they had this in bottles instead of just draft so I could buy em up.

Winter pack from costco. Can smell the chocolate and cherry. Great taste and not overwhelming. Leaves aftertaste of chocolate.

Loved this beer. You get a very bold cherry flavor at first taste and it slowly fades into a slightly semisweet chocolate note. Very tasty if you like cherry and chocolate. I love the fact it doesnít shy away from the cherry, even though others thought it was too much.

I was initially disappointed when I saw Sam had tweaked their chocolate bock to this new Cherry Chocolate Bock. But, as a fan of Sam, I gave them the benefit of the doubt and tried it with an open mind. Still, not as good as the Chocolate Bock, but still an excellent winter beer. The chocolate is overwhelmed by the cherry, though the cherry--to me--did not seem as overpowering as it is the Cherry Wheat. Very good beer.

Last year the Sam Adams Chocolate Bock is the one that piled up at the back of our fridge, left over from the holiday sampler. At least if that one wasnít desirable, it was drinkable. But this one is simply awful. It tastes like Nyquil. They put an artificial cherry flavour in there so you donít taste the medicine. This is like drinking an entire bottle of Nyquil. I could not finish this and dumped the remaining half. As for the appearance, as others noted, it has a decent head that disappears quickly. Bellís Oarsmen is the only worse beer Iíve ever had.

Cherry taste is pleasant. Not enough chocolate for my taste, however not too bad of a beer.

It reminded me of a cherry cordial, which I have never been a huge fan of. As part of beer flight it may be nice, but 12oz. was too much for my palate.

A: Dark brown color with a dark tan head.
T: Tastes like a dark beer with cherry and chocolate. I enjoyed it. Drinks smooth all the way through.
P: Medium body, smooth feel. Decent carbonation.
Overall: Tasty beer. I enjoyed it. Cherry and chocolate flavors stand out nicely. Not too sweet.

The appearance is the most attractive part of this beer. It pours a deep mahogany with two fingers of khaki-colored frothy head that fades to leave slight lacing. Carbonated. Nose is comparable to cherry coke; strong fizzy cherry note overlying a background of sweet malt. Nose is very subtle, coming in wisps. Had the aroma been more prevalent, it wouldíve been pleasant. The mouthfeel is thin and watery; fizzing like seltzer, but smooth and crisp. The front of the tongue holds light malt (almost like diet Bosco- thin and toned-down. when they reduce the calories in the syrup and you can tell itís low-cal because it tastes "off" but itís hard to pinpoint why? thatís what Iím describing here). The best one word way to put it is a thin and skimpy flavor of sweet malt with milky chocolate (again, compare to the mouthfeel of skim milk with diet Bosco in it) notes that give way to cherry juice. This is supposed to be a chocolate-cherry hybrid, but it tastes like theyíre wrestling and the cherry DOMINATES the middle and the finish, with the chocolate only eeking out a presence in the beginning.
Very drinkable and sessionable; no alcohol presence in either nose or tongue.
In the end, it kind of just feels like a BMC with cherry juice in it. Everything about it screams diet, watered-down, dialed back, weaker than necessary or desirable.Just. Too. Simple.
