Tap at international Beer Fest 2011. The aroma is almost entirely cherry and chocolate, like a cordial. The appearance is an attractive deep brown/red, slightly translucent, cream-colored head. The flavor is chocolate, cherry, caramel, almost all malt. The finish has a light pine neddle bitterness. Medium/thick in body. Pretty good.

Draft at mellow mushroom. Pours black with a thin khaki head though this might not be accurate since the beer was served in a refrigerated glass. Definite cherry notes on the nose but they’re more of the sticky sweet variety. Not getting much chocolate on the tongue but definitely more sweet cherry. Finishes clean. Not bad but hoping this was going to be better.

I like regular chocolate bock better. Black pour with reddish hue. A one finger tan head. A strong fruit and chocolate aroma with a hint of vanilla bean.
The flavor was cherry, toasted caramel malts and nut. It was good.

On tap at Grapevine. Pours out a brownish red color with a tan head on it. Smell is mostly cherry with a little bit of chocolate in the finish. Taste is sweet - too sweet - with a load of cherries and chocolate mixed together. No hop / alcohol noted. Interesting concept, but too sweet for my tastes. Smells and looks awesome. Drinks.....not so much.

Draft. Black pour no head. Cherry dominated aroma, almost medicinal in character. Some lighter chocolate, covered by artificially sweetened and medicinal cherry tones. Ugh.

Sampled at the Third Annual Rocket City Brewfest. Brown with a tan head that settled to a ring and left light lace. Big cherry aroma with a chocolate background. The flavor was like cherry cool-aid. Light to medium body with a cherry aftertaste.

Tap. Cola brown with a light tan head. Some chocolate and cherry notes with some sweet sour as well. Taste is purely awful: cherry syrup that’s artificial, sugary cough syrup with a fake chocolate end. Just horrible.

Reddish brown brew with very little head. Aroma is sweet with chocolate and slightly medicinal cherry. Thin body with lots of malt and more fake cherry.

16oz draft at Old Chicago. Pours black with about a finger of light brown head. Aroma of chocolate and Queen Anne cherries. Taste is exactly the same. Full bodied with a thick and creamy texture. Soft carbonation and a long finish. Overall, not bad. Too sweet for my style but probably a good intro to craft. There is not a lot going on here, but you really can’t fault SA. They did name it absolutely correct.
