COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
This special release is brewed just for the holidays. For a new approach to a classic favorite, we added cherries to our traditional Chocolate Bock for a sweet, slightly tart note. Aged on a bed of dark cocoa nibs, the malty, chocolaty, and dark fruit flavors create a rich, complex beer perfect for winter. Cheers!

12oz bottle. Medium bodied. Chocolate forward, some chocolate syrup tones. Deep brown black body. Thin, fading beige head. Overly sweet and doubling down on artificiality, this is a pretty unacceptable Bock. Maraschino cherry aroma. Easy drinking, smooth enough. The thing I dislike the most about this beer is that it calls itself a Bock.

From the Winter dampler. Decent beer. Cherry in the flavor and aroma. A lottle sweet, brown sugar and malt.

Deep dark brown coloured body with a thin light brown head. Aroma of very strong cherries, roasted malt, alcohol, nuts, earth and a touch of alcohol - very good. Medium-bodied; Rich chocolate and cherry flavour and a lot of roasted malt with a super strong earthy and chocolate malt flavour that persists throughout. Aftertaste shows a very sweet chocolate and especially cherry flavour with a nice robust flavour and a good complexity and some subtle spices. Overall, a very nice and complex beer with a lot of cherries and roasted malt flavours coupled with some chocolate and very light spices. I sampled this twelve ounce bottle pulled from a twelve pack sampler purchased from Stop & Shop (Giant) in Newtown, Connecticut sampled at my brother-in-law’s house in Milton, Connecticut on 27-November-2013.

Aroma is cherries, mild chocolate and slight musty notes. The flavor is cherries, chocolate undertones, malts and a dryish/sweet finish.

This bottled brew from a grocery store poured a small sized head of foamy light brown colored bubbles that were mostly diminishing and left behind a no visible carbonation opaque except at the edges dark black brown colored body and a fair lacing. The mild aroma was of cherry mild chocolate and dark malt. The mouth feel was tingly at the start and at the finish with a strange mellow cherry chocolate aftertaste. The strange flavor contained notes of wood chocolate dark malt cherry and thick malt. Not one that I would likely drink again.

Bottle best before the coming March. Nose of glorious, unrestrained cherry juice with chocolate -- the immediate and irresistible association is to the over-sugared cherry-stuffed truffles found in cheap sampler boxes of chocolate usually exchanged around the holidays. And these are sweet maraschinos, skins and all, not the sour kind. Pours a deep brown-black which is a very dark ruby under light, plenty of carbonation and a short tan head. Taste is sweet cherry juice, but this one is unfortunately much less gustatory and much more medicinal. Tumbling malt complexity but not very deep, medium body and the carbonation has turned into a gentle fizz, and the expected wave of thorough chocolate is more like a disappointing dollop of tincture of cocoa nib. The base beer is Sammy’s generic earthy lager/bock, complete with pros and cons, but man, that cherry really grabs the limelight; others might be bothered ("too much! too much!") but I really get off on the strong ice cream associations and memories of long-forgotten girlfriends who did the damn thing with the cherry stems, even if they were duds where it counted.

12 oz. bottle. It pours dark brown with some orange highlights and a rather creamy tan head. Holy cow, this smells almost exactly like Dr. Pepper. There’s a little bit of chocolate as well with mild notes of toast and fermentation byproducts. The flavor is actually pretty nice. Dr. Pepper with some rich notes of bread, yeast and chocolate. Full bodied with a nice, balanced cherry character and a sweet cherry chocolate finish. It reminds me of eating one of those chocolate covered cherries and then chasing it with a Dr. Pepper. I was surprised I liked it as much as I did.

Had to guess what this looks like. The aroma is much more cherry than chocolate. This basically tastes like a cherry cordial, but without the awful texture of the marchiano cherry. Pretty good as a single beer, definitely not sessionable..

Pours mahogany-tinged black into a Sam glass. Mocha head crackles and recedes to nothing. Cherry lolipop aromas. Medium bodied with chocolate and cherry lolipop overload front to back. Leaves an odd, bitter aftertaste.

Sampled on 12/31/2014. This fruit beer pours a dark brown/black color from a 12oz bottle. Small to medium sized white foamy head, with decent lacing and good retention. The aroma is fruity, bready and sweet, hints of cherry, chocolate, and dark fruit. A medium bodied fruit/bock beer. The malts are dark fruity, bready and sweet. The hops are herbal and earthy. Decent carbonation. Nice balance of fruit, chocolate and malts. A touch sweet but very drinkable. Mouthfeel is full and round. Finish is clean and smooth. Aftertaste is slightly sweet with some cherry.
