3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 GTAEgeek (772) - Atlanta, Georgia, USA - MAY 15, 2011
On tap at the Rocket City Brewfest. Pours dark brown with amber hues. The aroma is basically cordial cherries. Very obvious maraschino cherries and milk chocolate. The flavor is very sweet, like cough syrup. The palate is smooth and creamy, with a clean finish. Overall, a fun beer, with a straightforward flavor and pleasant feel.

Pours brown, almost in porter territory. Aroma and flavor are dominated by cherries. chocolate is more subtle in the flavor, and not really apparent in the aroma. A nice light, clean malt sweetness contributed from the overarching bock style. For a bock- not so good. For a fruit beer- rather good (but I’ve still had better cherry chocolate beers where there is less cherry and much more chocolate; see Appalachian Chocolate Cherry Stout).
3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 oobawa (626) - South Carolina, USA - JUL 6, 2012
An inevitable beer, I guess, Cherry Chocolate Bock does what it’s supposed to, and nothing else. Tastes like a cherry cordial, with a hop-free fade that is all cherry-fueled tartness. Chocolate comes through on the middle. Not a bad beer, but the flavor could be turned up a little more; you can’t help but want more decadence in such a potentially indulgent brew.
4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 BucannonXC5 (557) - San Diego, California, USA - JAN 2, 2012
Poured from a draft into a pint glass at the San Diego Brewing Company. Black with a slight tinge of red (cherry). Inch of head. Nice amount of dark lacing on the top. Nice looking film on the sides that lasted throughout.
Smelled of chocolate malts with cherry fruits. Reminded me of Ben and Jerry’s Cherry Garcia.
Tasted just like the nose, only better. Nice and smooth chocolate malts with that cherry backbone. Basically a Cherry Garcia.
Medium body. Creamy texture. Average carbonation. Smooth, long finish.
I loved this beer. I originally had the look a 4.5, but dropped it down after some consideration. I’m a bit of a Sam Adams homer but this may have been the best I tried.

Pours a dark brown with minimal head. Smells strongly of cherry and chocolate. Taste is primarily cherry, almost like a large cordial
3.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20 orangesol (451) - Pennsylvania, USA - JAN 16, 2012
Served On-tap at Ffej of July IX
A - Pours dark brown, bordering on black, with a nice one finger tall khaki colored head leaving spotty lacing down the glass.
S - Smells of maraschino cherries, rich chocolate sweetness, and the typical toasted caramel malt core. The cherries really begin to assert themselves as it warms up to room temp.
T - Starts off with a big dose of tart cherries and sweet chocolate that never really fades. The base bock beer becomes a bit lost after all the initial strong flavors take hold, offering only a faint glimpse of the sweet caramel malt. Finish is just like the start, cherries and chocolate dominate.
M - Medium-Heavy body and flavor with moderate carbonation. A mic of sweetness and tartness in the feel, lingering throughout.
O - Not your typical bock beer but it was never supposed to be. If you like sweet, fruity, beers you will like this one but if that isn’t your thing you might want to avoid this one.

Light to Medium bodied, Does not have that Bock Malt but, Nice and sweet, light caramel Malt. For the Style....Not bad.
