COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
This special release is brewed just for the holidays. For a new approach to a classic favorite, we added cherries to our traditional Chocolate Bock for a sweet, slightly tart note. Aged on a bed of dark cocoa nibs, the malty, chocolaty, and dark fruit flavors create a rich, complex beer perfect for winter. Cheers!

Not much of a beer taste. Seems a little heavy on the artificial flavoring. But...still would make for a good dessert.

"Bottled for 2013. Yay!! I’ve long been a huge fan of chocolate bock, even when it was in big overpriced bottles. This could have gone so wrong. Cherry flavor can end up medicinal, but they really nail the cherry in this, especially in the nose. Slightly tart and complex and nearly perfectly balanced. The flavor is a little sweeter. A lesson in decadence from a 5.8% beer. Like German chocolate cake spiked with tart and sweet cherries. LOVE this. Wish I could get just this instead of the mixer :) Aroma 9.5, flavor 8.5."

UPDATED: AUG 24, 2014 My buddy had a bottle of this leftover from winter so I couldn’t resist the dusty bottle in August. Smells and tastes like a cherry cordial. Really quite good. Not overly sweet or chocolatey, but very similar to the holiday candy. I’d do this again for dessert any time.

12 ounce bottle, enjoy before March 2014. It’s a bit dated, so we’ll see how it is. Served in a mug, the beer pours dark brown with some ruby red tints. There’s also an inch light tan head that stays around for a while. There’s a small amount of lacing. The brew mostly smells like cherries, along with some chocolate, cola and plums. Taste is similar to the aroma, but there’s the addition of some molasses and a slight medicinal flavor. Also, the chocolate is more noticeable in the flavor of this brew. Mouthfeel/body is medium, it’s a bit syrupy with low/moderate carbonation. I thought it was a good enough brew, definitely worth a try if you’ve never had it before.

[Tap] Black colored pour with a nice pillow of light brown head. Initial aromas of cherry syrup, milk chocolate and lighter hints of vanilla. Taste is of roasted malts, sweet maraschino cherry syrup, molasses, plum and raisin notes. I thought the fruit and malt balance was pretty nice in this beer. Maybe a tad thin, but not too bad. Tasting notes from 12/2011.

Poured opaque cola brown-to-black with a 1-finger tan head. Medicinal cherry aroma with some cocoa beneath. Medium body with a brief finish. There is some tart cherry up front, but it seems kind of artificial. The cocoa comes through in the finish. The regular chocolate bock was far better.

pours a thick black with tan head. aromas of cherry and molasses. taste is strong cherry that finishes with a strong roasted malt. I was skeptical, but not bad for a dessert beer for cherry lovers.

Samuel Adams Cherry Chocolate Bock is a unique brew that is better left to dessert sharing with a friend. Nice cherry aroma rising from a dark pour with a nice head. Taste is like those chocolate-covered cherry candies -- very sweet, and it hangs on the palate a little too long. Cherry Chocolate is ok for an occasional treat or change of pace.

Unique but probably a one-timer. The aroma is cherry followed by chocolate. It smelled rich. Dark chocolate color. Palate is smooth but not heavy. Cherry beers always seem to run the risk of coming across as cough syrup and this one treads that line were it not for the chocolate undertones. The two main ingredients are what one tasted with a remaining hint of Bock character. Not much of a hops influence. Points for uniqueness but overall not worth pursuing again.

Very good beer. NIce to drink, smell and look to. Cherry smalls and creamy unflitered features all the time.

Not a huge fan of dark beers, but this is somewhat intriguing. The aroma is like a chocolate covered cherry, with a similar taste. Got this as part of the Christmas season variety pack. Gonna give the rest to a friend who likes these, since this is really not my style.
