COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Samuel Adams Cherry Wheat® follows the centuries old American tradition of brewing beer with native ingredients, in this case Michigan cherries as well as a touch of honey. The sweet fruitiness of the cherries is balanced against the crisp, cereal note from the malted wheat and the subtle citrus flavor from the Noble hops. The end result is a sweet, refreshing beer that is light on the palate but long on complexity. Introduced in 1995 as a summer seasonal brew, Samuel Adams Cherry Wheat® developed a large enough following to be introduced as a year round style. Its distinct cherry character has made it one of the most unique and well liked styles of Samuel Adams® beer ever. Cherries are added at two different points during the brewing process. Once during the mash and again during finishing.

This is a very interesting beer. It’s light tasting and clean as good wheat beer should be. When reaching your tongue the cherry is very prominent almost to the point of it tasting unatural like old fashion cherry syrup. This lent an almost synthetic asthetic to an otherwise good brew.

Ugh. I may have been doubly cursed with an old bottle of a style I don’t tend to care for, but this tasted too much like that nightmare-sweet red fluoride treatment I used to get at the dentist’s long ago. Horror in the aftertaste as well.

Not a big fan of fruit beer. This one is OK, just a little too much like cough syrup.

UPDATED: AUG 8, 2006 Drinkable. nice cherry taste. Re-rate Aug. ’06’. I just had this again on a boat in the 1000 Islands. I enjoyed it very much. It was hot out and this was cold and the cherry flavoring gave the wheat beer the extra little kick of flavor it needed.

More overpriced bad beer from sam. This time with a nice fruit flavor, but it still tastes terrible for the price. This brewery is way overated.

Very good job of infusing an authentic cherry flavor into this beer. Unfortunately, cherry is somewhat like cinnamon or orange flavors in that an pleasurable taste as an essence becomes undrinkably bitter when it becomes a major flavor component. And wheat beers are subtly grainy and bitter as it is! I’ll take my lambics any day.

A great aroma of cherries. I’ll never forget how good it smelled right after I poured that first pint. Nice auburn color with a small head. The cherries were a great addition to the already semi-sweet taste of a wheat beer. Overall, a great brew.

i thought it was definitely a new experience and worth trying. The biggest issue is the after-taste is distintively different from the original taste. This is because of the cherry flavor they add. It would be a better beer if they didnt add flavor after fermentation. It creates a definite inconsistency that others have also made note of.
