Samuel Adams Cherry Wheat® follows the centuries old American tradition of brewing beer with native ingredients, in this case Michigan cherries as well as a touch of honey. The sweet fruitiness of the cherries is balanced against the crisp, cereal note from the malted wheat and the subtle citrus flavor from the Noble hops. The end result is a sweet, refreshing beer that is light on the palate but long on complexity. Introduced in 1995 as a summer seasonal brew, Samuel Adams Cherry Wheat® developed a large enough following to be introduced as a year round style. Its distinct cherry character has made it one of the most unique and well liked styles of Samuel Adams® beer ever. Cherries are added at two different points during the brewing process. Once during the mash and again during finishing.

My dad thinks this stuff is the greatest creation in history. I like most wheat beers a lot but this doesn’t do much for me. Smells magnificent. It’s just weak and after one I don’t want another.

UPDATED: NOV 6, 2007 First off, I’m rating this ’in its class’ meaning that my rating for this is probably going to be higher than it actually stacks up in my preference heirarchy. Smells like cherry cake. Pinky-amber with cascading head, which fades to a raft of shaving cream-consistancy foam. Flavor isn’t as sweet as it smells. Smooth, tart, clean. High marks.

i admit this beer is somewhat sweet, but is still quite enjoyable. i can drink a 6-pack of it, something of which i cannot say of other fruit beers.

Not the best fruit beer in the world, but still sweet and satisfying.

At least it smells like something, tastes like something, and looks like something. That can’t be said for most of their beers.

Sam Adams has done us the favor of answering the age old question: If I brew beer using Kool-Aid instead of water, what would it taste like? This gives fruit beers a bad name. It’s way, way too sweet, and has this obnoxious cloying aftertaste. No hops, no malt, no real beer flavor. Seems like they were trying to Zima-ize their beer line, and may have regrettably succeeded.

Im really diging the fact that this beer is a great desert type. after a dozen or so PBR’s cherry wheat is kinda like brushing your teeth...you know?
