Commercial Description:
Samuel Adams Cherry Wheat® follows the centuries old American tradition of brewing beer with native ingredients, in this case Michigan cherries as well as a touch of honey. The sweet fruitiness of the cherries is balanced against the crisp, cereal note from the malted wheat and the subtle citrus flavor from the Noble hops. The end result is a sweet, refreshing beer that is light on the palate but long on complexity. Introduced in 1995 as a summer seasonal brew, Samuel Adams Cherry Wheat® developed a large enough following to be introduced as a year round style. Its distinct cherry character has made it one of the most unique and well liked styles of Samuel Adams® beer ever. Cherries are added at two different points during the brewing process. Once during the mash and again during finishing.

Strong cherry aroma, which I personally enjoyed. Flavor of some sweet and some tart of cherries and wheats. Went down smooth, very drinkable.

Has settled down to a thin head. Light straw color. Smells of cherries (duh) maybe a slight note of honey. Slightly acidic and warming with a slight malty and cherry flavor. Dry-ish finish with slightly sticky cherries.Light to medium body feel. Not a beer would choose to drink regularly.

Smells of sticky cherries and little else. Tastes of wheat and lots of cherry, almost a little too sweet. Not too bad though.

Pours a clear golden color with a thin head. Aroma is extremely strong with cherries and syrupy sweet--like a cherry Slurpee. Flavor is more muted, but cherry is still very noticeable. Some wheat and biscuit malt notes, but they are overpowered by the cherries. Mouthfeel is watery. Refreshing enough, I suppose, but the cherries are just too overpowering to make this anything more than a novelty beer.

While I don’t mind some cherries in my beer (see Ommegang Three Philosophers, great stuff), but this beer is ALL cherries. No balance what-so-ever. I had to try really hard to pick up anything other than cherry. I just cannot give this any sort of respectable score due to the complete lack of balance. I did drink it from a bottle, so can’t really comment on appearance or aroma. In fact, the only reason I drank it at all was because my friend took two sips of his and was about to pour it down the drain, but I couldn’t let it go to waste. Prolly shoulda let him pour it out...

One of my favorites. Aroma is sweet cherry with barley. Flavor is wheat with a nice cherry aftertaste. Smooth palate. Overall a Nice beer!

Mixpack bottles: Very cherry! The aroma is great but the flaver has too much cherry taste. It reminds me of a cherry Coke or more like a Sprite since there is so little beer taste. I can home brew a better cherry beer myself that still tastes like beer. I can see this appealing more to women who prefer wine coolers so I see why this beer will have mixed reviews. Clear gold with white head. Bittering and carbonation are fine but still over powered by cherry when swallering.

First time I had the Cherry Wheat was at the Food and Wine Expo at Expot Center a few years back. By the time I had the Cherry Wheat, I was already a little sauced, but even then, I thought it was a great beer. The next day, we went back, and the first thing I did was have a Cherry Wheat, while I was completely sober. It was still the best beer I could remember having. I’m not a big fan of fruit beer, but after having this, I’ve been trying others. I don’t agree with the others, I don’t think the cherry is overpowering. It’s clear in the smell and there is a hint of it in the finish, but nothing overpowering.
