Trev (850), Lakeville, Minnesota, USA Jun 4, 2008 Updated: Jun 5, 2008Clear medium gold with a with a large tight creamy head.
You can smell the cherry but it comes across as an almost cough drop aroma over a light wheat-malt. (somebody else mentioned Shirley Temple...spot on!!)
Flavour is light malt with a maraschino cherry presence. Must cut out the more common wheat flavours as I don’t get that much. Some malty-wheat tones towards the finish. A bit thin at the end, and I get zero hop out of it...
Not bad at all. Wouldn’t make it as a regular summer beer for me though...not enough wheat or hop.
fargingbastige (1), USA does not count Jun 4, 2008 Only one of two Sam Adams varieties that are not great - the other is the seasonal Cranberry Lambic. I cannot imagine with what food it would go. It’s not very good by itself either. GMCC2181 (846), Bear, Delaware, USA Jun 4, 2008 Bottle: Smells like cherry. Light amber in color. Big head. Taste is maraschino cherries. Light texture, easy to drink. I wouldnt drink this all the time but it is a decent beer. biznizness (930), Mooresville, North Carolina, USA Jun 3, 2008 Blah. Someone poured cough medicine in my beer. This is a big PASS as far as I’m concerned. Probably isn’t really a wheat either, I guess when you pour a bunch of flavoring in, you can call the beer whatever you want. SamGamgee (1396), Santa Cruz (La Selva), California, USA Jun 1, 2008 12oz bottle. As soon as the bottle is opened, a huge wave of cherry wafts out. Spot on shirley temple aroma, which is a little strange, but not too bad. The flavor is not too cherry dominated, but definitely has a fake red cherry quality that tires quickly. Not awful on the whole, but not something that I enjoyed. phishpond417 (1861), Madison, Wisconsin, USA May 28, 2008 Very smooth, light refreshing wheat beer with lots of sweet cherry flavor from the beginning of the aroma to the end of the finish. Mostly sweet, the cherries linger on for a while. presario (2953), Calgary, Alberta, Canada May 27, 2008 Bought a single bottle because I remember enjoying this at Disney World in 1999, 3 years pre-RB for me. Amber with a nice head. Maraschino cherry aroma ready for the Christmas cake. Light malt. Aggressive mouth drying dry cherry-alcohol flavour. Not sweet, malty or pleasant. Another memory shot. NextBestThing (22), Westtown, New York, USA May 26, 2008 Updated: Sep 6, 2008Nice beer. Beautiful amber color with a sufficient head. For my money not as sweet as some others have said, but the presence of cherry is definitely detectable. Very, very smooth beer with virtually zero aftertaste. I consider this to be an extremely well balanced beer that will not offend anyone who enjoys a fruit beer. Would definitely buy again although I do need to find someplace that sells it for less than 32 bucks a case.
