Taste of strong cherry. Not bad. Best of summer pack so far, but I know the two best are to come. GarrettB (494), Seattle, Washington, USA
| 2.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 11/20 | Jun 12, 2008 The sweetie of the band, the Samuel Adams Cherry Wheat was my most eagerly awaited beer from the Samuel Adams sampler pack. Moderately bleached white head with tiny bubbles for support (Bless Don Ho), with a dull marmalade orange body. The aroma contains cherry candy, cherry Coke and some natural black cherry juice to make a healthy combination of manufactured and natural cherry flavors. Otherwise, the smell is simple and simply scented. The Cherry Wheat’s flavor begins with cherry Coke as well, excessively sweet and dark, and includes some artifical lime flavor as well, also abundantly sweet and not unlike Sprite in the way it wiggles around the mouth before "final consumption." Approximately seven to eight seconds after the sip, a small wheat flavor appears and carries the drink to the very tip of the aftertaste. The flavors are discordant and awkward, like an adolescent in a community choir, and just plain bad. But it is still a very sweet and candy like beer for a good price - maybe a required six pack at parties for lady drinkers who may or may not be inclined to more sugary drinks. luvcasks (178), USA

Nose: Some tart wheat notes with somewhat medicinal cherry notes
Flavor: Very crisp and tart hop flavor with a light wheat note but the medicinal note of cherries is very very distracting - oddly it does not go away when the beer is warm either.
The finish is muddled with a light wheat note there - hop flavor is subdued
Overall: Unfortunately the term I am thinking is "ODD" Cherry and What can be a very refreshing combo - does not need to be a lambic but the "artificial" cherry note is just not appealing - for a moment I though Nyquil blindeyedbetty (151), Arlington, Virginia, USA
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 2/5 | 15/20 | Jun 7, 2008 12 oz. bottle pours a clear apricot color with frothy head that leaves little lacing as it dissipates. Aroma is a strong waft of cherries...almost an unnatural type of cherry like in candy or jelly. Flavors of wheat with cherry middle and finish of maltiness. Medium-light bodied. Somewhat mild medicinal-like aftertaste. I did not expect to like this beer at all, but it’s much better than I anticipated. While the cherry is a bit funky, it’s pleasant. Not too overly sweet as I had feared, but not with much variation in the palate either. A simple beer easy for the masses to drink. It is what it is. But, it’s not bad. hoplover (166), Corpus Christi, Texas, USA

| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 13/20 | Jun 6, 2008 I’m surprised at the negative ratings on this one. I like this beer. It’s not one of my favorites by Sam Adams but I certainly have no problem drinking it. It has a definite cherry flavor to it. It’s not as good as a Belgian lambic but it’s not bad either! You can smell the cherry but it comes across as an almost cough drop aroma over a light wheat-malt. (somebody else mentioned Shirley Temple...spot on!!)
Flavour is light malt with a maraschino cherry presence. Must cut out the more common wheat flavours as I don’t get that much. Some malty-wheat tones towards the finish. A bit thin at the end, and I get zero hop out of it...
Not bad at all. Wouldn’t make it as a regular summer beer for me though...not enough wheat or hop.
fargingbastige (1), USA does not count | 0.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 2/10 | 3/5 | 1/10 | 1/5 | 1/20 | Jun 4, 2008 Only one of two Sam Adams varieties that are not great - the other is the seasonal Cranberry Lambic. I cannot imagine with what food it would go. It’s not very good by itself either.
