Commercial Description:
Samuel Adams Cherry Wheat® follows the centuries old American tradition of brewing beer with native ingredients, in this case Michigan cherries as well as a touch of honey. The sweet fruitiness of the cherries is balanced against the crisp, cereal note from the malted wheat and the subtle citrus flavor from the Noble hops. The end result is a sweet, refreshing beer that is light on the palate but long on complexity. Introduced in 1995 as a summer seasonal brew, Samuel Adams Cherry Wheat® developed a large enough following to be introduced as a year round style. Its distinct cherry character has made it one of the most unique and well liked styles of Samuel Adams® beer ever. Cherries are added at two different points during the brewing process. Once during the mash and again during finishing.

12 oz bottle from a mix pack. Pours clear golden with a bg frothy head. Aroma of cherry and maybe some floral hops. Cherry flavor from the get go reminds me of the old Luden’s cherry cough drops. Dry finish with a touch of hop bitterness. Tastes better than Vicks Formula 44!

On tap at Ironwood Grill. Pours a golden amber color with a small fizzy white head. The aroma is kind of a medicinal cherry with a lot of sweetness. That pretty much sums up the flavor too. There is a little bit of the wheat characteristic that comes through, but the cherry is very strong and sort of like Tussin. Medium and very plain palate.

Bottle. Pourd with a thin head and an almost artifical cheery smell. Good wheat flavor and the cheery tastes good in it.

Pours with a thin head and a pungent cherry aroma. Has a crisp but slight malt flavor with a hint of cherry acidity and tang that seem weak in light of the strong scent. An acceptable but slightly disappointing variation of the style.

Strong sweet cherry aroma. Dry, wheat taste with cherry finish. First time I tried this beer about 8 years ago I thought it was the worst beer I’ve ever tasted. Now I kind of like it and will buy it every so often. Can’t drink a lot of them but one or two is very good.

It has a light hazy body, pale golden color and a big thick white head. The aroma of cherries is very strong in this beer. There are some light malt flavors that are mostly covered up by the sweetness of the cherries and honey. The taste is good but the body doesn’t really support the sweetness. Its light to medium bodied with soft carbonation and a smooth mouth feel. It’s a very good looking and smelling beer but its balance is a little to sweet for me. However this may go well with a dark chocolate brownie. I think I will give that a try.

This beer pours a clear copper colour with ok head retention. The aroma is of cherry coke... artificial to my nose, even if it’s from real cherries. Although I typically savour the aroma of a beer and desire more of it, in this case it was almost overpowering. Taste is also of cherry cola. Slighty hoppy bitterness, but not bad. Overall an ok beer if you like the cherry smell, but otherwise not much reason to recommend. Very few wheat beer qualities.
